First 3rd Party Product available already...

Oh, I don't know. He'll always be first. Nothing we can do to take that away from him.

First 3rd Party Product available already...

Blink and ya missed it! He pulled it already. I give the odds at 50-50 this is the last product we see for 4E from Mr Carbol.

If they're that concerned about it, they can ask for proof of delivery from the Post Office, or FedEx it, etc. That's not that tough of an issue to overcome.

Is that some ancient, obsolete British spelling? *klunk*

    Mike Mearls On the OGL

I think this is a critical point that no one to this point has really brought up before. People have placed that onus on WoTC, but I don't know that they ever really saw that as their role. My personal thought at the time was that if systems came into play that were demonstrably better than...

GSL & SRD -- Comments, Questions, and Hopes

My assumption for years now has been that if they wanted to kill the OGL, that they would do something just like this. They couldn't kill the OGL for 4E, but they might by the time 5E comes around.

    OoTS 567 Up!

He's probably got a cleric capable of casting "Raise Dead" scheduled to come by in the morning. :) Myself, I wonder if he'll chat with Roy on his way to his ultimate reward.

EN World Iconics: To 4e or Not to 4e.

He is also, I'm willing to wager, the only person on these forums who has engaged Lucy Lawless in fisticuffs. That's gotta count for something.

A talk on the concept of "failures" in a skill challenge (no math, comments welcome)

I like Quickleaf's 3 types of skill challenges. For myself, I think it boils down to the DM. The DM needs to provide the kind of Skill Challenges that allow all the players to get meaningfully involved - allowing for skill uses by all players and their characters. This isn't to say that ALL...

    Monster Fluff

The 2E Monstrous Manual hardback is the best fluff gathered (almost) all in one place, for my money.

    Warfare in 4e

This is how I was planning on doing it - I'm trying to figure out what to do to adopt it to my ongoing 3.5 game as well.

Ever quit a gaming group because of another player?

Took me a moment to figure out if you were talking about the player or the cat! :)

    Masterwork Armors

I think he's saying armorers and weaponsmiths are best suited for making arms and armor.

    Battlemat storage

I roll my Chessex battlemat up, and then weigh down the corners when I put it out - it flattens out pretty decently after a while. I've never had a long term problem doing that. Folding is right out.

[True/False] There is a point in every campaign when the PCs come to blows.

If you include moments where PC's are charmed/confused, then absolutely, in pretty much every long-running campaign it happens. Not in most other case, however; we've generally tried to avoid inter-party strife.

I have two concerns about 4th edition. Help me out.

    1. Certainly accurate. I'd expect you could still play 4E without minis, but it definitely seems like it'll work better with them - just as 3.X did, but its much more ingrained into the rules 2. Remains to be seen - Rogue powers, for example, don't seem to have much "magic" flavor to them...

    Economics & Small Urban Settings

For what its worth, I think the value of gold historically fluctuated around 8-13 x the value of silver, up until the discovery of the New World. Then things began to get out of whack. So 10:1 seems to me a very reasonable number.

    RPG with best shooting mechanics?

Actually, amusingly enough, Call of Cthulhu has pretty detailed weapons rules, and lots of specific weapons. With the kind of game you're talking about, Delta Green might be an option; its a modern Cthulhu setting with a bit of a special ops/spy/x-files vibe.
