D&D 5E (2024) Quotes from the Monster Manual

To be fair I expect elevated raunch in a Rick and Morty tie-in. It's a bit surprising for it to be in one of the core rulebooks but that's hardly the only thing in a monster manual that parents might not want their kids seeing.

    D&D General Monster ENCyclopedia: Jackalwere

You know I was about to make a snide comment about 70s and 80s D&D but then I realized that Dragon #189 came out in 1993. FFS, TSR.

    D&D 5E (2014) Questions about slings

I remember in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, every character who couldn't use a bow got a sling. Turns out 1d4 isn't so bad when you have a +3 weapon and +3 ammunition.

    D&D 5E (2014) Questions about slings

In Tales of the Valiant the sling's Weapon Action is ricochet, meaning you can hit targets even if they're behind total cover if you have a surface you can bounce the projectile off. That alone made me seriously consider playing a sling fighter in TOTV.

D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

My point is that these shows find an audience, but because it's not an audience big enough to justify their budgets in the eyes of corporate overlords, they get cancelled. And Netflix primarily cares about the numbers early on (per Netflix showrunners) so if a show takes a while to find an...

D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

Plenty of shows have been good and done perfectly fine but got cancelled because they were too expensive. And D&D is likely to be expensive.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

Some are changed more than others, but there are some trends... Increase damage, remove non-magical damage resistance, increase HP by as much as double for monsters in the 10-14 CR range, and put few to no damaging spells in their Spellcasting trait, but replace the damage with very potent...

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

Honestly kind of glad it's setting specific because I really prefer to do my own thing with giants. In my setting there's a section of the largest city called Giant Town which is exactly what it sounds like. Everything from the hot dog vendors to the towers are bigger. It's like a little...

Evil Drow Statblocks to Return in Forgotten Realms Rulebooks Later This Year

Derro weren't even in the Monster Manual to begin with. They're not part of the 5E SRD. A5E doesn't have them and Tales of the Valiant has them in the MV but not its open content.

D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

'Heroes of Baldurs Gate' or 'Neverwinter Knights' or something would probably be best. But if it's set in a more remote part of the Realms then maybe D&D would be better.

So it turns out the 32 orcs wasn't as much of an easy curve as I thought... the wizard rolled five 1s on the 8d6 damage dice.

D&D Movie/TV Netflix Planning Forgotten Realms D&D TV Show With Stranger Things Producer

I've seen this sentiment about the movie as well and honestly I'm curious as to where it comes from. I don't think it would be likely to attract people who don't play D&D, but I can't see it being a net negative compared to giving it a generic name.

It seems like they forgot to put a time limit on the oil. Oops. Edit: Hm, maybe not.

The possibility that Fourth Wing is getting a TV show when so many better fantasy novels are obscure is just tragic to me.

D&D General Monster ENCyclopedia: Hook Horror

The hook horror encounter in Baldur's Gate 3 was honestly the first time I had any interest in the monster. What a way to make a potentially goofy looking creature completely terrifying.

    D&D 5E (2024) D&D Monster Manual (2025)

May be an unpopular opinion but I think that's a good change. Like my take is 'who the heck is Hruggek'? That's not a deity with so much as a cult in my homebrew setting. But the fey embodiment of the fear of nature is something I can work with as an enemy.
