Paizo News: PaizoCon Online Wrap Up

The 5e SRD is in Creative Commons. 3rd Edition Stuff - i.e., the OGL Paizo used - is not. That's a significantly difference. Granted, I think it is fair to feel that without Drow related content being produced for the system and world anymore, you would prefer to explore a differnet system -...

Paizo News: PaizoCon Online Wrap Up

What should be noted is that Jacobs is a huge fan of Drow, and is himself upset that he can't use them anymore; they are not making the change around Drow lightly. It appears they are afraid that, after WoTC blew up the OGL, that further usage of the Drow could get them in trouble - which makes...

WotC Anyone Else Tired of the Wizards Bashing?

I am getting pretty tired of people policing others criticising a company for doing wrong or not living up to the expectations their customers have. You can crticise people for being unconstructive or being hateful or threatening towards the company's staff, but my god, the actual company...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

A good rule of thumb is that the billion dollar corporation tends towards being the party in the wrong.

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

They seem to be taking a third pass at the crafting rules.

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Wildly off topic, but as someone who despises having to do phone calls, it's mainly because:a a) phone line quality is terrible compared to voice calls over the internet, so the chance for misunderstanding is much higher. Acedoteally, I find that people are generally much less patient on a...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Are you seriously saying this when the Agents of Edgewatch Adventure Path was controversal in the community for not initially including rules on non-lethal damage, the fact it has police members taking objects from suspects - and it's very premise of being a police focused Adventure Path...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

I would personally consider someone, who is presumably armed*, from a security group, who I am not aware is coming, going between my house and neighbours, as a threat of violence. Now, granted, there are potential holes in the YouTuber's story in question - and I live in a society where a...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

I think generally the right of people to not have threats of violence against them over the leaking of details about a luxury good and potential supply chain issues vastly out-trumps a company losing some profit. By far. Especially when we're talking about a company as big as WoTC.

D&D 5E (2024) Rests should be dropped. Stop conflating survival mechanics with resource recovery.

You would be using up your Hit Dice though, meaning you wouldn't get your health back. That's already a fairly hard limit into the mix - it's not hard to add more, improve the mechanic, and make the game better.

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

Again without breaking rules, I have a deposition towards being sceptical of violence, particularly deadly violence, being used in protests or other situations. It is a failure of security and safety for such situations to happen in so many cases - so the fact cases like this do continue to...

D&D 5E (2024) Rests should be dropped. Stop conflating survival mechanics with resource recovery.

Where there is quite the gradiant there, I think people focus on the extreme options to present how differently each act in terms of narrative time. Five minutes is not a large break under time pressure, while an hour is. I think people generally argue that the narrative pressure of 1 hour is...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

I think I largely find your post insightful, but this is where I disagree. At the very least, the subcontractor is in part to blame for the protester losing their life, because the person with the armament should not have been in the position they were in - not just because they didn't have a...

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Playtest Includes 5 Classes & New Weapon Mastery System

Maybe. The fact Archives of Nethys exist means that it is fairly easy to play without having the rule books regardless, so from that point of view waiting is a good idea. But if you want to play now and you want physical books or a PDF, I would go for it. The changes can be fairly easily...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

I don't see how it can be. The only issue I can see is trying to potentially mix and match feats from non Revision and Revision Champion; and even then, perhaps the alignment changes means that there won't be that many fundamental changes. These just got announced and there's nothing in there...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

They're not printing the previous books anymore because of OGL issues though; this is not an attempt to sneak in a new edition through the back door and sugar coat it. They already stated this was not planned as of December 2022 - i.e., the OGL situation forced them to print a version without...

D&D 5E (2024) New One D&D Playtest Includes 5 Classes & New Weapon Mastery System

There's not really a reason to wait. The fundamental game is not changing and while aligment will be gone and some classes changed quite significantly, it's going to be backwards compatible. Plus Archives of Nethys will have the changes on it for free. The revised books do look like they will...

WotC may have sent the Pinkertons to a magic leakers home. Update: WotC confirms it and has a response.

I did read the story. The entirity of it, and other places within the story. You will note I didn't comment on either stories I linked or the Pinkertons' actions. So I'm not sure why you're implying I did and made a factional error. I stated, quite closely, that these were the only major...

Pathfinder 2E Pathfinder To Get New Core Rulebooks Soon

This is news to me. I had not seen complaints about the Core Rulebook as poorly edited or layed out. Having read the book as well I found it a fairly good read.

I was unable to find many stories about the Pinkertons from researching via Google. There may be better places to search. I did find this story: Pinkerton Security Guards Coming Back to Denver There was also this story: The Pinkertons Still Never Sleep
