My 3rd-level warmage needs some learnin'. Care to help?

Well, for far-flung resources, I can offer the Planar Handbook's Light of Lunia (personal light spell you can discharge as 2 bolts). Dragon 323 has some very nice 2nd level Evocation [Force] Spells for later levels. Pretty slim indeed. That's unfortunate. It seems like such a good ability.

    Are you still Piratecat?

What is the primary purpose of being Piratecat - to raid ships on the high seas, or to groom oneself with one's tongue? The mind boggles at the idea.... Regardless, I think I'm too evil to be Piratecat.

    Living with a bird

I've been told that birds, lacking the intelligence God gave the shovel, simply believe it to be night if it's dark, and thus sleep. So just put something heavy over the cage, like a thick towel, or a blanket, or something airtight...heheh. Kidding on that last one. My best advice is a thick...

    The Dungeon Masters' Foundation

Absolutely, though I'm also comfortable working in reverse; finding a good crunchy bit and making a portion of the world to fit it. The fact my massive homebrew is not intended for publication means I've abandoned the concept of keeping it OGL. I pillage prestige classes, core classes, monsters...

    The Dungeon Masters' Foundation

Since it's not my official task, deClench, I can't welcome you to the Foundation, but I can review your questions in brief, as I must leave for work soon. 1) A great tool to keep things going where you want them, IMXP, is to not write it like a story; write it like you're playing. Jot down the...

    Banks & Taxes: rules/suggestions?

Because of the potential for robbery, particularly by powerful entities...why would you ever gather 100,000gp in one easy-to-find place in a world with dragons?...I tend not to use banks...but I do enjoy giving PC groups bankers. Once they've developed a good local reputation, a single NPC...

    The Dungeon Masters' Foundation

Is there anybody out there? Let's see if I can get a new something going on out here. Do what degree is your campaign setting worked out? Who uses published settings? Who writes their own in broad strokes as the players need it? Who, like myself, is probably addicted to the process, loves...

Would you allow this paladin in your game? (new fiction added 11/11/08)

I would, certainly. Other DM's might not, but for my own style, absolutely. There's nothing in his behaviour listed above that violates the code as written. If I may... So, under the assumption he's lawful good and his only sins are whoring, drinking, swearing, and cynicism. That's fine by me...

Dice Off! (Round 2) (Update: Ends this Friday - Angcuru defend yourself!)

Wow. This is going so, so well. Guess I'll try another post.

    Why I Don't Like 3.5 Damage Resistance

Testify! I apologize that this isn't the most thought-out response, but this sums up most of my thinking on the subject, lacking only "God that's stupid" ;) . The best magical swords are fashioned of bizarre materials; starsteel, forged souls, magically treated glass, and the like. Just wanted...

    Good "spirit world" material?

IMO, some of the best material of this type was offered up by Werewolf. 2nd Edition Werewolf is typically second-hand these days and pretty cheap; I'd definately recommend the Umbra guide, and I'm pretty sure they even had a guide to spirits. If you're itching for it to be current D&D stuff...

    The Dungeon Masters' Foundation

Yikes. Lack access to ENWorld for a few days and there's like 5 pages of posts I didn't catch. So, let's see... 1) DM Foundation campaign. Cool idea, certainly. Sad thing is, my personal computer isn't networked right now, so I can't jump in and say "Yes! Gaming! After months of nothing...

    So what's your gaming experience

    1) As best I could since 1987, and seriously since April, 1990. Couldn't find anybody else who wanted to play at 7. 2) At the moment lacking a group, nothing. :( :( Once, it was Werewolf, CP2.0.2.0, D&D from the red box onward, and most of the Palladium series games (I know, I know...so sad)...

Do you make your own adventures?

Excepting Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil (because it's simply iconic of D&D culture, really), about 80% of the adventures I run are mine. That other 20% represents useful information or ideas stripped from published modules like a stereo from an unlocked Jaguar. :)

    DMG II Announced

Now, I don't hate everything WotC does (just the Races books so far), but this looks like it could be THE quality book from them. It could also be advice more suited to first-time DM's than people who owned the red box, like most of the Dragon articles of this type. I guess we'll have to see. I...

Drinks to try on my 21st?

Minor correction; to the best of my knowledge, a Cuba Libre is a rum and Coke with lime juice in it. And a fancier name. While I doubt you'll find it at a bar, Amarula is a damn fine alcoholic beverage, if you like butterscotch. A fine something to have around the house for sipping after...

Bad Paladin... or My First Paladin thread...

Well. I've read...most of this thread. Sort of skimmed page 3 because, as is fairly typical of a relative discussion in General RPG, it's bogged down in minutiae. Man I hope I spelled that right. Anyway, allow me to add a couple coppers to the mix. I like it. It's a concept that just bleeds RP...

    I despise leftovers

You kidding? Holiday leftovers are a sacred alchemy. A piece of good bread, leftover turkey, and a healthy dose of gravy. Heat gently in a single pan, and you will produce Joy.
