    Sword Coast Legends

3 out of 5 rating for Sword Coast Legends I've quite enjoyed playing the game, but it doesn't seem to know what it wants to be. It's not a D&D emulator, and it's not a combat action RPG, and it's not an open world sandbox... there are better games that do all of those things. It's got quite an...

SWORD COAST LEGENDS Is Out Today

It's not a bad game but it feels like it doesn't know what it wants to be. It's not a pure D&D game, it's not an action RPG, it's not an MMO... It's quite entertaining with an interesting story, but I don't think I'll play it after I complete the main story mode.

My Sword Coast Legends First Impressions

Bear in mind that I reckon 95% of people that play this game won't have ever played the tabletop game or know much about it. They'll just want a fun game and don't care about the similarities with the tabletop game.

My Sword Coast Legends First Impressions

My impressions seem good too. It has a few "quirks" for me - mainly relating to the game controls, but the atmosphere and feel of the game seem like something I want to play more. The difficulty feels quite hard, but I think I am more used to more casual action games and this requires more...

D&D 5E (2014) The Official Poll! What THREE things do you like most about D&D 5th Edition?

Published adventures seem to be letting the product down, if this survey is anything to go by. I can kind of understand this, since we've seen how well adventure paths can be done by paizo. I think my biggest gripe is a lack of official published adventures that don't start at level 1. I often...

    SWORD COAST LEGENDS Trailer

Most video game players I know want a fun, slick multiplayer experience and don't really care if the under the hood mechanics aren't the same as the pen and paper game. I think the feeling and impression is much more important than the specific details. I don't think the people using this...

    SWORD COAST LEGENDS Trailer

I don't think tabletop mechanics translate well into computer game mechanics anyway, and vice versa. I'm more interested in a story set in Faerun, with familiar FR elements, and exciting gameplay.

In what way isn't it a D&D game?

Sean's Picks of the Week (1005-1009) - Old School, Vikings, Numenera, Dungeon World, 5e

Does anyone know what the PC level range for Confrontation at Candlekeep is? I assume it starts for level 1 characters.

D&D 5E (2014) Linking adventures in Phlan to "Out of the Abyss"

I'm about to fire up my D&D group after a few months break. I've just got Out of the Abyss which looks great, and I want to run it. However, the PCs were previously in Phlan, and I was running some of the Tyranny of Dragons expedition scenarios for them. The characters are level 3 or 4. The...

Here Come The PRESTIGE CLASSES! Plus Rune Magic!

I really like the idea of Prestige Classes or Paragon Paths. It gives the player something to aim for and gives variety at higher levels.

is it me? FFG Star Wars

For players that enjoy high-narrative systems and a lot of improvisation and lateral thinking, I think FFG Star Wars works really well. The dice system is very different and isn't for everyone, but if you get into it I think it's really fun. I love the level-less talent and skill system. The...

I'm hearing of delays in it reaching stores here in the UK.

RPG Evolution: Is the OSR Dead?

I think it's easy for people to get "stuck in the past". Perhaps they like an old version of a game, and don't even consider the merits of a newer version. That's fine for them and they should pursue what they enjoy, but I think it the realm of tabletop RPGs, being open minded about new products...

Fantasy Flight Games Acquires LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS

The Living Card Games by Fantasy Flight are pretty good. I've been playing the Lord of the Rings LCG with a friend lately and it's been very engaging. Also FFG titles are all beautifully produced to a really high quality. I've played a little of L5R 4e but I have to say I do find it a bit...

    State of the Game

I'm really impressed at how well supported the line is by FFG. The supplements are mostly really useful and interesting as well.

Rage of Demons: "D&D On Hard Mode"

This is great news - perfect for my group who have taken a break after Lost Mines and want to start up again for a bit.

    State of the Game

The trilogy of the 3 core books are all available now. They can be used stand-alone, or they can be used to compliment each other. There are also quite a lot of supplement books available and coming in the future - it is a very well supported product line.
