Interesting. I think I'd rather have these kind of modifications in a published book or pdf doc though, so all players had potential access to the same builds. I can understand that some players dig making up their own mechanical features though.

Yes and I have done so. I also reduce a monster's hp. I do this to ensure the fight isn't too easy or too hard, and to give the player's the most fun.

I love the presentation of the rulebooks, the production quality, the artwork, the setting... I just don't like the dice mechanic :-(

Looks fantastic (excuse pun) but I prefer to steer my group away from too much tactical movement. I find it faster and more narrative. I do use a rough map on the table and sometimes use minis for more complex scenes.

There's no way I could do that for each session.

I was thinking of doing a similar thing for each session - would be a good prep habit to get into.

I found this article useful and will be using some of these ideas in my next session. Having a brief list of incidental events that could occur to help portray the setting and link to the PCs hadn't occurred to me before.

The first set had a few nice minis in but I felt it the minis weren't generic enough to get much re-use. Hope this set has some more figures that will get more play. Also the last set didn't get released in time for the encounters season.

I've tried the x-men version, it was OK but I found the tiny dice annoying & fiddly.

This looks really interesting- looking forward to reading the article about creating good puzzles, I often struggle with those.
