    I think the question was more a case of: No they don't threaten, but are they allowed to drop their crossbows so that they DO threaten (assuming Imp Unarmed Strike)? To which the consensus also says No.

    I agree Monks can get much higher, but Richard had mentioned fighter type character, so I went by fighter. on a side note - PHB monks AC bonus maxes at 4 not 5 (ECL isn't really 'core') and, 18 + 6 + 5 + 4 = 33 not 34.. ok so 60 instead of 62. *grins* Still 15 higher than what i pointed out...

    I was asking actually because of a campaign I'm designing. I'm Shadow Magic out of the Tome of Magic. One of the Meta Mysteries, works like reach spell. Given the potency of some of the Shadow Mysteries, and that a good half of them are touch spells, I wanted to be sure. Thanks for your input.
