Priests big list of Exotic Weapons

Pike Pike: This spear is so long that it has 15 foot reach. It is so unwieldy that it only threatens three adjacent squares at that distance. Changing the threatened area is a move-equivalent action (that can be combined with movement). Like a spear, a pike can be set to receive a charge. The...

    Spiked chain questions/prestige classes?

Spiked Chain wielding monk I'm playing a spiked-chain wielding monk. Monks get improved trip for free, so I only needed two feats (combat reflexes and exotic weapon prof) to really make use of it. Plus it complements the monk's role, which isn't to do the most damage, but to harass enemy...

How on Earth do you have a tightly controlled D&D world with normal magic (Long)

Re: Re: Mythological Greece as model for D&D Forgive my oversimplification; I agree completely. A great example is Odysseus who uses his wits, disguise, etc. to fool the suitors before taking them by surprise.

How on Earth do you have a tightly controlled D&D world with normal magic (Long)

Mythological Greece as model for D&D Getting back to people who are interested in what a world would look like under core D&D, I suggest thinking about the world of mythological Greece. In mythological Greece, cities are ruled by hero-kings, and positions are hereditary only to the extent the...

    Hit Dice and CR

Your problem is with CR, not HD I think your problem is really with the CR system, not the Hit Dice concept. The CRs as published in the Monster Manual are reasonably accurate, give or take 2 CRs. But the rules for adding class levels aren't well thought out. To use your example, a Fire Giant...

    Why I Hate Sorcerors

Re: The best thing about sorcerers... Bah, I played a game where the sorceror ruined everything. It was supposed to be a heavy roleplaying game set in the forgotten realsms, but his constant powergaming turned it into a combat heavy, tactical assault style game. The sorceror did nothing but...

    Why I Hate Sorcerors

So, dragging this thread back to my original post ... Does it bother anyone else that sorcerors are more dependent on magic items than wizards? I'm considering increasing their spells known, btu only allowing them to use spell activation/completion devices for which they actually know the spell.

    Why I Hate Sorcerors

Re: This makes perfect sense... I don't think the analogy quite holds, since you aren't a "natural" historian who intuitively grasps the truths of history - you were trained in history, its just that you have more training than your students. History as such doesn't really lend itself to an...

    Why I Hate Sorcerors

Re: Re: Why I Hate Sorcerors Well, my point was that sorcerors use both shield and mage armor, but only know shield. A 1 hour duration mage armor scroll is only 25 gp. Easily affordable, even at very low levels, for everyone in the party. Contrast this with shield, where the 1 round/level...

    Why I Hate Sorcerors

Re: Re: Why I Hate Sorcerors The problem isn't so much with the DC for those spells, but with the inherant limits. For example, Sleep only affects creatures with 5 HD or less. Regardless of what the DC is, this won't do much good at high levels. Colorspray is a little better: it stuns 5+ HD...

    Why I Hate Sorcerors

I like the idea of spontaneous, "natural" casters who use the force of their personality to cast spells, but I don't like how sorcerors implemented in 3e. Here's why: 1. Sorcerors have a very limited spell selection, so they have to be very careful about what spells they choose to know. On the...

Bone Rapiers, Stone swords, and Golden Maces

Rules from Bronze Age Campaign My next campaign will be set in Bronze Age Greece and I have some rule changes. Basically, ordinary (metal) weapons are made of bronze. Iron weapons are considered masterwork weapons. Certain weapons can't be made with the poor metalworking techniques available...

[OT] Attorneys on the EnWorld boards

Creamsteak- I've got a bachelor's in Computer Science and subsequent law degree. The bachelor's won't help you much (like others have said, all you need to get into law school is a good LSAT and a good GPA), but it will allow you to practice patent law (essentially you can't be a patent...

Looking for Beholder and Umber Hulk Minis

I'm looking for a Beholder and an Umber Hulk. I really like the old WOTC minis, but I think they may be too rare to find. Any suggestions about where to find them, or for something from a different line? BM
