    Help With Downloads

As noted in this thread, I tried to upload a bunch of maps to Enworld, first as a cipfile attachment to a post, then as a photo album. But in both cases, the website crapped out before the upload could complete. Is is possible the maps are too large? Is there something else I need to do to...

    Witch Class

Hungryghoast, Thanks for the thoughtful comments. Taking your two concerns in order: 1. Although at any one given time, the witch will likely have access to many more spell choices than wizards (or other spellcasters), in my view, it doesn't actually have much more versatility. This stems from...

5e conversion notes for S2 - White Plume Mountain

Played this over the weekend and it was great fun. Highly recommended. My players especially enjoyed the dynamic of Keraptis as the DM's alter ego, and peeking behind the curtain (for example, I included an Azer repair crew who moved around the dungeon resetting traps and repairing damage to the...

    D&D 5E (2014) One-Stop Stat Blocks for D&D 5th Edition

This is fabulous. I always prepare index cards with statblocks before a session with shorthand of spells and spell like abilities (I have no idea how people play without doing so... Do you really pause a game until you flip to the PHB spell description?). So this will be very useful for me...

5e conversion notes for S2 - White Plume Mountain

I plan to run this in about a week. Here are my notes about how I expect to run the geyser room. Features • Door opens to stone platform in large natural cavern. Ceiling about 50 feet above platform, and "floor" about 50 feet below. Opposite the main entrance, about 80 feet away, is another...

    D&D 5E (2014) Let's talk about Witches

Thanks for the mention. If you are interested in the class, I just uploaded a substantial revision of the class representing playtesting the class for several months. Cheers, Brian

    Witch Class

Thanks for all the kind words. I've just uploaded a new update with some substantial changes, mostly from 6 months of playtesting. I've also substantially reorganized the presentation to make it clearer, and added a few new traditions, potions and spells. Hope you enjoy. Cheers, Brian

    Are you a Good Witch?...

For me, the warlock class has a completely different flavor. Warlocks tend to be very flashy and combat oriented. For me, witches should be more wise and subtle. If warlocks work for you, go for it, but for those of that like more traditional fairytale witches, we can have our own class.

    Are you a Good Witch?...

Here's my take on what a witch class should include: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?401243-Witch-Class PS. I'll be updating the PDF in a few days to include a SEA Witch archetypes and a few other bits and pieces, but I'm waiting for the OotA players companion to see if there is...

D&D 5E (2014) Hit Point Recovery Too Generous

I made the point obliquely up-thread, but since nobody seems to be discussing it, I'd like to make it more forcefully... From a game balance perspective, it doesn't matter at all, whether long/short rests happen every hour/night/week/month, so long as the number of encounters (and general...

D&D 5E (2014) Hit Point Recovery Too Generous

My campaign is playing with long rest= 1 week in town, short rest = overnight rule. This was done specifically with the understanding that it wasn't intended to change the number of encounters per long rest/short rest. Thus, on a relative basis, it shouldn't change the resource drain. I...

D&D 5E (2014) Give my Dragon Encounter More Bite!

Thats a probably a better simulationist answer, but even I think that might be stacking the deck too much for the dragon. Give the party some chance to rescue the poor caster!

D&D 5E (2014) Give my Dragon Encounter More Bite!

Hmm, I'm not sure I'd say that they would be "grounded". Appendix A says the grappled creature's speed becomes 0, and the section of flying movement says that if its speed is reduced to 0 it falls. RAW, I would think that both the dragon and the carried caster will fall to the ground and both...

D&D 5E (2014) Give my Dragon Encounter More Bite!

Dragon scouts the party. Dragon flies in. Dragon grapples weak caster. Dragon flies away (half speed for Large dragon, see PHB 195) and munches caster at leisure. Dragon waits until next day, then repeats.

Two new 5e magic items: Serpent's Tongue and Horn of Inspiration

Made these for a my 5e game and thought someone else might enjoy. -Brian Serpent's Tongue. Weapon (quarterstaff or spear), legendary Serpent's Tongue is a quarerstaff made completely out of dark brass. The shaft is grooved to appear as snake scales, terminating in a cast snake's head...

Rodney Thompson Looks Behind The Screen

    Witch Class

Another update. I caught a few more grammatical errors, but more importantly added a bunch of witch-themed monsters, including various fey, faerie knights, ice hag and the ice elemental. -Brian

    Witch Class

Ouch. Thanks for catching that. I'm going to wait a few more days to update the PDF since I've got some with-like monsters and other content to also add.
