Game Night, by Jonny Nexus. You need to read it:)

Oh thank GOD. I thought I was the only one who read this book and thought it was dull. I felt the author missed the boat on trying to parody a clichéd plot and just delivered a clichéd plot, sprinkled with fairly obvious RPG stereotypes.

    OotS #589 Is Up

Really? It's been running smoothly for me ever since he switched servers a couple of months ago, even during the middle of the day. Are you completely incapable of loading the site, or is it just sluggish? EDIT: Of course, as soon as I post this, the server fails to connect for me for the...

The momentum of Durkon's sudden growth is what catapults Hinjo upwards.

The best part of this comic is the sound effect in panel #2.

Elan's rapier has never shown up on him when he's not holding it, the same as Durkon's hammer or Belkar's daggers. There's no reason to think he's unarmed here just because we don't see the rapier hanging at his belt. Outmatched, probably, especially if the imp pops in to provide a flank, but...

Already a thread on this from last night: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?t=238074

    OotS 580 up

I like how he keeps his promise to recap anything from the prequels that you would absolutely need to know--and then manages to find a way to tempt people to go out and buy it anyway, all in one panel. Also, apparently Crystal has a tongue stud. Sexy context, indeed.

He's 7 feet tall and has a giant head made of stitched-together dead skin, what monster WOULD he be if not a flesh golem?

OotS #576 Is Up + News of New Burlew book

I'm betting the coupons are for one of the businesses seen "in-comic", since no one would want to cut up their book anyway.

Heh, so much for those who theorized that Belkar would save her and thus redeem himself. Also, it would appear the new OOTS book will be on sale at GenCon this year: http://www.GiantITP.com/WarAndXPs.html

    Order of the Stick 575

There is no DM nor any players. Just characters in a world that follows D&D rules. Try to read it as a story and not a transcript of a D&D game; that's how the author writes it.

Yeah, sorry. I just feel like every strip that comes out, the discussion devolves into strong opinions on getting the band back together. Which is a valid discussion, the first 20 times. But after a while, it starts to drag down any OTHER discussion of the strip, so that all anyone talks about...

    OotS #573

Can we please have one discussion about the comic that is actually about what IS happening instead of what ISN'T? Just once?

Her dad's being held in a place called Tyrinor on another continent, but that may well be her home city--where she was forced to flee from the Thieves' Guild.

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

Exactly. "All in the Family" was just a sitcom.

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

You're missing my point. "High-minded" has nothing to do with it. I'm not suggesting the author is on a crusade to change the world. I'm saying that the fact that the strip has become as popular as it has without the hero's race being a factor will change perceptions among D&D players over...

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

That doesn't explain why all the NPCs follow suit. At the very least, it's a depiction of a D&D campaign where the idea of a multiracial world has been successfully implemented by the DM, which is more than we see from Wizards. That the depiction exists might encourage people who see it to say...

Racially diverse artwork in D&D...does it influence you?

I'm surprised that this thread has gone 9 pages, and no one has mentioned The Order of the Stick yet. Roy Greenhilt is the main character of what is one of the most prominent pieces of D&D-related fiction currently being produced. And his race has, to my knowledge, never been mentioned by any...

    Oots 572

Or we could just have one massive OOTS thread that just gets bumped when a new strip comes out. That's what most other message boards I know do. If people knew to only post in that thread, they would see that people had already noted the arrival of the new comic. As it is, we end up having the...

If it were simply that he was going to be undead, the Oracle wouldn't need to dance around the words "die" or "death". He could still say, "Belkar will die," knowing that he would continue to be an active member of the party. Hell, Belkar could be cut up into a thousand pieces and still come...
