rogues always have been and IMO still are the most versitle class and the most fun to play. they can do it all.

Ravenloft, the Slaver series and Aginst the Giants are all modules I have heard about but never actually gone through in the almost 24 years that I have been gaming! but I would have to consider them clasics none the less.

Also add to the list the Palace of the Silver Princess, Kings Festival and Queens harvest. but the keep on the borderlands IS the Classic D&D module. I wouldnt mind going through that in 3.5 . . .

I had a lot of fun playing this adventure. we never encountered the dragon or its stuff. the DM felt it would result in a TPK so he left it out. if you keep it in make sure the party either has a chance to kill it or can at least run away.

has anyone done or seen a conversion of the old 1e stuff put out by judges gulid, ie: Dark Tower? or seen Sanctuary from thieves world in a more modern format? I know that this stuff went out of print years ago.

freeport was the first thimg that came to my mind. but if you have it thieves world: Sanctuary is excellent too.

I would recomend 5 Ranger levels then take the lasher PrC. IMC the Scourge is called the Cat-o-nine-tails, when used by someone highly trained with it ie: a lasher its wicked. if the Lasher seems a bit much for you then draw uppon world history. the romans had a specialist called a Lictor [sp]...

my campaign is set in the Scarred Lands so I use all that stuff + the quintessential books, mostly for the extra feats, PrC's, fighting styles and character backgrounds.

going for what you are likly to encounter the most is usually a good idea. I usually go: 1] goblinoids. remember these guys can have class levels so you are likly to keep encountering them as you level up. 2] giants since ettins and ogres are included that seems like a no brainer 3] undead you...

you can do this with a straight human fighter at level 1. take cosmopolitian feat twice and use it for move silently and hide. these are now always considered class skills for you. then take 2 weapon fighting quarterstaff, or machete. you will have the same BAB as a ranger and a whole lot more...

require each of the characters to give you a list of both short and long term goals. besides Good is such a relitive term, there are shades of Goodjust as there are shades of Grey and degrees of Evil . . .

a print shop power cutter is the best way. vertial sander would be next if you have access to a woodshop. but several new xacto blades would work to as was posted earlier.
