D&D 5E (2014) Adventures in Middle Earth magic - does it work?

Honestly, I don't know why they even bothered with a 5E version. I was hoping for something a little more.

Minis or Theatre of the Mind? (Survey)

Another vote for both. If it's a somewhat balanced combat encounter, in a space that can be easily represented on a grid, then I'll use minis if I have them. For just about everything else: TotM.

    D&D 5E (2014) CHALLENGE: Change one thing about 5e

Problem: not everyone likes the absence of the magic item economy. Solution: assign gp values for magic items.

D&D 5E (2014) Adventurer's Gallery: NPC List, would there be an interest?

I've found these sorts of things to be very useful - both with full character sheets and with the stat block format. A recent one that I like that's Pay What You Want...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tome of Beasts+ 3pp Books

Tome of Beasts is a wonderful resource. Double the fun by re-skinning the monsters inside.

12 Demon Cults From Kobold Press

I'm a big fan of Tome of Beasts, (even with the quibbles) but I was going to give Demon Cults a pass, mainly because I'm all culted-out after the Tiamat and Elemental Evil adventure paths. And I don't use the Midgard setting. But on further inspection, I can easily adapt several of these groups...

    D&D 5E (2014) Have you bought any (non DM's Guild] 3rd party 5E products?

Primeval Thule (very pleased with it) and backed Tome of Beats (very excited). Plus a handful of DTRPG adventures and supplements, mostly for the monsters.

    So This Just Arrived...

My main thought is that it has more plot/adventure hooks than you can shake a stick at. As to whether it's more "sword and sorcery" than "high fantasy" .... hmmmm. There's certainly an S&S flavor to it, but if you use everything "as written," I think it probably still leans more towards high...

D&D 5E (2014) Future format of books that mimic SCAG: Will you buy them?

With Amazon discount, yes. $40 at FLGS, no.

Spelljammer Spelljammer, 5e, and the general angst against all things space

I guess I'm guilty of irrational resistance. I can deal with all kinds of ridiculous and fantastic things, but somewhere you have to draw a line, and elves in space is just two or three steps too far. I'm trying to think of what would make it easier for me to accept, but I just can't come up...

This just looks better and better. Last day, though. I wonder how many more SGs are going to get unlocked?

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

Of the dozen or so regular players I know, only two haven't switched yet, and in both cases, it's because one isn't playing any version of D&D right now and the other is too busy to game at all.
