    D&D 5E (2014) Monster Manual Question.

Does the MM provide different CRs or "levels" for these NPCs, or just a single example of each?

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apolcalypse/Adventurer's Handbook by Sasquatch Game Studios

So long as WotC continues to tie its Adventurer's League to the MMO, I think the linear epic world-saving approach is going to continue ... at least once a year, just like a sports season. And that will be the big annual multimedia event that may very well expand into boardgames and card games...

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apolcalypse/Adventurer's Handbook by Sasquatch Game Studios

I'm not an expert in FR lore, but if this adventure is tied to the Neverwinter online game, the "elemental evil" in question might be the primordial trapped in the "Great Forge" of Gauntlgrym - as mentioned in the 4E Neverwinter book. Also, taking a cue from 4E, the Player's Guides frequently...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Not a surprising view from someone who thinks that anyone can make Amazon's top ten list. :D

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

In the long run, we're all dead. But 5E is certainly off to a hot start. I suppose that depends on what you mean by "strong." Are sales strong enough to keep the game in print? Probably. And since that's your primary concern, I'm happy for you. Okay. One more time. My point is that the 5E...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

And yet #1 is meaningless? Sooner or later it will, but that's not my point, which I've stated repeatedly.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

That's true, and it's also true that Paizo probably makes fewer Amazon sales to start with, due to smaller discounts and the fact that the books and pdfs are usually available on their own website at least a couple weeks before Amazon gets them. Still, I can't help wondering whether they are...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Pathfinder is still alive and presumably making a decent profit, but "strong?" Amazon ratings: Core Rulebook #3,358 in books. Advanced Class Guide (just days from release): #6,654 in books. Beginner Box: #14,134 in Toys and Games. APG: #14,555 in books. Technology Guide (days from release)...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

"Spokesperson for Wizards of the Coast" isn't good enough for you? Whatever. By the way, the article I cited noted that the corebook set for 4E reached #5 on Amazon's best seller list in May of 2008, which was the highest ranking I'd seen to date. So, using the wayback machine, I looked at the...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Pathfinder didn't do it. 4E didn't do it. And we know that the initial sales of 4E exceeded those of 3.5, so 3.5 wouldn't have done it either.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

It's stunningly impressive. The same thing could be said of just about any other book. The fact is that it has debuted as Number One, something no tabletop RPG has ever accomplished before. Sure, we don't know what kind of "legs" it will have, but just like the box office, a strong debut is...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

And nowhere did I say or even imply that it did. My point was that 5E is almost certainly drawing its sales from audiences beyond the Pathfinder fans. For almost two years, here, and on other forums, we've been continually reassured that 5E will be a "bust" because it's going to further...

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

LOL It's only been out a week. And, by the way, this is the time of year when high school kids across the country are buying supplies . Look where "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "The Great Gatsby" are ranked. And it's outselling both of them.

D&D 5E (2014) I think we can safely say that 5E is a success, but will it lead to a new Golden Era?

Repeat after me. Number. One. In. Books. The one thing we do know is that Mike Mearls and the Wizards RPG team are doing backflips right about now.

Please share with me any data you have that shows that any previous D&D product reached #1 in books at Amazon. The highest I recall seeing is when the 4E PHB briefly reached #33.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you like the simplicity of 5E monsters?

5E hits the perfect sweet spot as far as I'm concerned. Brilliant design.
