D&D 4E Forked: "Math and Grind" or "Why Rechan is Right" (From: "4e One-trick ponies")

I like the idea of a "Climactic Power" - and maybe one for the bad guys, too, that allows them to do something different once bloodied. (I also like that Angry DM take on solos - have them be 3 stages instead of just regular and bloodied)

D&D 4E Forked: "Math and Grind" or "Why Rechan is Right" (From: "4e One-trick ponies")

This is exactly how I felt when DMing 4E. I was happy that it was extremely easy to prepare compared to 3e/3.5e/PF. And, combats for my group took less time than 3.5e combats. However, after the main bad guy (the solo or elite) blew their big power or two in 4e, and their action point(s) in...

    Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'd probably agree with comic book girl on Skye being dressed too nicely and being too well coiffed to be living out of a van. Pretty hacker I might buy, but I'd have preferred to see her a little scruffier to start - maybe cleaned up more as she goes through the season, better kept hair, etc.

    Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now that you mention it, they do look a bit alike: Heck, Summer Glau would fit right into that group as well.

Finally starting the last 3 books of The Wheel of Time

Thanks, for a version updated for Pathfinder that has a trolloc at 3d10+3 for hit dice. Rated them with a 9 INT, which I think was a bit high. I'd give them more of a 6/7 (-2).

Finally starting the last 3 books of The Wheel of Time

The drop-off after Wizard's First Rule was far more precipitous, IMHO. I also thought at least some of Goodkind's ideas seemed to be derivative of Jordan. (the main characters (Richard/Rand) practically being demigods, but having humble beginnings, Richard having to wear a collar, similar to...

Finally starting the last 3 books of The Wheel of Time

I enjoyed the next few books after the first, but I also felt the main characters went from country bumpkins to incredibly powerful rather too quickly. Book 1, they're trudging all the way across the continent over a span of weeks - a few books later, they're zipping around from nation to...

Finally starting the last 3 books of The Wheel of Time

I think Jordan kind of lost control of the story midway through, but I think his first three books were better than the three Sanderson wrote at the end. But, that's just my opinion.

Finally starting the last 3 books of The Wheel of Time

Yes, that's the most important part - the story was finished. And, while the writing style may not have been to everybody's taste, Sanderson was working with Jordan's extensive notes and the ending probably captured the general gist of what was supposed to happen.

Looks like it could be interesting - Would it be too mature for a tween?

Pathfinder 1E Does pathfinder strike anyone as too gamey?

Yeah, but flashy things can be a lot of fun. The guy who swings for the fences all the time creates drama when he comes to the plate - people watched when Reggie Jackson stepped to the plate in the World Series. There may have been other players on his team that had better OPS and other stats...

Not sure what you mean by class tiers? I thought tiers were 4E?

Pathfinder 1E Does pathfinder strike anyone as too gamey?

I ran a huge group through a 3.5E game that went from level 1-18, and none of the players playing a straight fighter, cleric, sorcerer or barbarian complained that they felt underpowered during the game. The guy playing the rogue/spellthief sometimes felt that way, but he still had his moments...

Pathfinder 1E Does pathfinder strike anyone as too gamey?

Barbarians now have "rage powers", Sorcerers now have "bloodlines", fighters now have "weapon training" and "weapon mastery", as well as "armor training" and "armor mastery", paladins get more abilities, etc, and many classes have special powers at level 20 that 'inspire' one to stick with one...

Pathfinder 1E Does pathfinder strike anyone as too gamey?

I'm sure there will be something in the future, but I wasn't sure if it was imminent or not and how much change it would bring. I didn't really think PF was all that compatible with 3.5E from the beginning. There were enough tweaks & changes that you'd have to look up a lot of things anyways...

Pathfinder 1E Does pathfinder strike anyone as too gamey?

I would think it would be more along the lines of PF 1.5, IMHO. Maybe some more tweaks to the system, improvements to high level play, etc. Sort of like going from 1e to 2e D&D back in the day.
