D&D 5E (2014) Is WotC ever going to release something high level? Even as UA test material?

Agree. It almost seems to be a self fulfilling prophecy which seems to be built within the game. I actually find it a bit deflating to be mid level and think really we are not going to use the level 13 stuff and above because there is little support by WOTC and (hence?) at my actual table.

    D&D 5E (2014) Making Combat More Mobile

Agree with the OP. 5E is more like 3E and lacks the fluidity and forced movement of 4E. But you can always use the way 5e allows you to split your movement before/after attacks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Building a better Barbarian

I like the Barbarian subclasses and like them being different from the fighter (which is already waaay too broad a class). The Barbarian class is low down on my list of things that need tweaking in 5e. That said except for the exhaustion problem, I would like there to be more interesting...

D&D 5E (2014) What would you miss about 5E if you were playing AD&D?

There are many small things about 1e and 2e that I struggled with then and I would struggle with now. The biggest thing I would miss from 5e is the survivabilility of PCs and the ability to invest in them and build a story. I just remember so many 1e and 2e PCs dying in absurdly random ways. It...

D&D 5E (2014) So How Long Will 5E Last For?

I play both 4e and 5e. 4e is my favorite edition ever, sure I wanted to see a 4.5 edition and I think the designers overreacted to the problems of 4e, but I dont want a new edition. I think 5e has a lot of life let in it and a lot of possible design directions left and possible modules to...

D&D 5E (2014) Survivor Classic Modules: THE SINISTER SECRET OF SALTMARSH WINS!

Just noticed that we had two submissions at almost the same time - I have collated the two previous submissions (where S3 got a +1 and -3) and added my own. A1-A4 Scourge of the Slave Lords 14 B2 The Keep on the Borderlands 22 C1 The Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan 22 C2 The Ghost Tower of Inverness...

    D&D 5E (2014) Why FR Is "Hated"

Exactly this. Despite using this setting a lot in 2e, I just have a hard time finding the FR believable. The cultures, politics, geography all feel really weird and flimsy. The villains are just too few and too minor (Zhentarim) or remote (Thay) to provide compelling stories.

D&D 5E (2014) Long or short rests? What is better?

I would like to see what 5e looks like with no long rests. I have never really understood the whole vancian thing that you run out of magical power or divine power. As a player i do feel like the long rests are just so good that they intrude on the way the players think about resources and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Favourite Tiers of Play?

I prefer higher levels, including epic. Some editions do a better job than others in providing material and having mechanics and maths which allow high level play. I think 4e did a really good job at this but alas 10 levels of it was probably too much. This poll also makes me wonder what basic...

    D&D 5E (2014) Best designed classes in 5e

In my experience the best in class would be the cleric. I think the cleric is really well designed with different domains playing so differently. I think the worst is probably the fighter (though I havent seen an EK in action). I think the fighter is more boring than the Paladin and Barbarian...

    D&D 5E (2014) Mike Mearls' AMA Summary

Interesting observations. I agree that fighters and rangers need some rethinking. I dont think Druids play badly. But I have to say that while I really still love and play 4E, I really do not like minor actions and I think 5E bonus actions are a far, far better design which save so much time at...

Mike Mearls' D&D AMA Summary: Rangers, Initiative, WotC Staff Levels, Fave Pizza

Interesting observations. I agree that fighters and rangers need some rethinking. I dont think Druids play badly. D&D 5E (2014) Historical Problems and 5E

Our cleric in our 5e campaign spends 80% of his spells on healing. He is not in the party because of his personality. I like/miss the way 4e siloed healing word from other spells, so that there was no decision to be made between healing and dealing. But I do think that 4e clerics had too many...

    D&D 5E (2014) Absurdist adventures (Idea me!)

You could play the old AD&D adventures by Gygax: Dungeonland (EX1) and The Land Beyond the Magic Mirror (EX2). Drugs optional.

D&D 5E (2014) How well does 5e capture the archetype (poll)

In terms of the best versions of the various archetypes, I really like the way they did the 5e cleric but I also cant go past the 4e fighter.

    D&D 5E (2014) Dying House Rule

I started D&D with 1E and I have to say that I am glad that earlier editions are in the past, especially with regards to dying and save or die effects. That said I am not finding 5E much more deadly than 3E. But I do like the idea of building some suspense when a party member goes down, I am...

D&D 5E (2014) Blow it up! What class need to be completely re-worked in 5e?

I really like the classes in 5e I have seen or played. I especially like the way they have done clerics, druids, paladins, rogues and barbarians (but need more subclasses). One beef I have with Paladins is the choice between smiting and casting spells - I think it is frustrating to have to make...

D&D 5E (2014) A change of perspective: From DM to Player

I was DM 98% of the time from when I first played Basic in 1982 right through to 3rd edition. Since that I have played a very long 4E campaign and a more recent 5e campaign, as well as bits of Burning Wheel and Marvel Heroic. I was really burnt out by 3rd edition and found that 4E, especially...

How many age categories should dragons have?

Four is enough categories of differentiation for me (young, adult, ancient, wyrm/legendary).
