That would also be English - Although as an abstract thinker, everything is translated coming and going. I can yak at ya in casual, real-people English to - Is all goin' through a babel fish anyway. :) I mean, you say what is your native language, an' I be hearing somethin' like "communication...

I find the competing insistences that a game must be either completely "realistic", or to never take "realism" into account, to be somewhat odd. And, perhaps, generally more attached to and attained in theory, than in practice. It is more likely that most groups play with levels of "realism"...

...I shall not murder the NPCs in the "Desolate Mine" quest myself...I shall not... A corridor full of goblins, so of course they do their best to run past the "obstacles" to get at goblins that are not even visible. Meanwhile, the goblins are focusing entirely on myself... I think... I shall...

"Yes, I fully understand that farm is important to you; however, it has waited over two decades, and I must disagree - It is not "The most important thing in a man's life". You see, on the way to finding your Weatherleaf Farm, I ran across both a vampire nest, and a village of cultists...

Philosophical: There is something to be said for subtlety, for planning, for preparation. But then, there is something to be said about half an inch of iron armour, a six-foot greatsword, and the ability to wade through traps, poison, fire and flame in order to purge an Imperial Fort of...

What are you reading? All New / All Improved Dec 2017 Edition.

If by "singularity" you mean a point beyond which civilization is somewhat unimaginable to previous civilizations, this has already happened at least a half-dozen times. This presents an obvious problem in creating fiction set after the change... ;) Although that is no reason not to try. :)

Here's A Look At The Cover Of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying 4th Edition!

I have never played Warhammer Fantasy, although I am familiar with it due to internet osmosis. However, for what it is worth, the cover does not seem to fit the "grim, grime, and blood" that said osmosis has brought me to associate with Warhammer Fantasy.

Surviving A Dangerous Night Of Gaming With Original Dungeons & Dragons

To quote the OP: "Greyhawk is also the point at which hit dice and damage dice are broken out of "D6 for everything," and we start to see the various character classes take on their own unique shapes. The OP was not rolling "d6 for HP and damage". It is an assumption that Greyhawk uses d8's...

Surviving A Dangerous Night Of Gaming With Original Dungeons & Dragons

Your statement regarding hit points does not contradict my statement regarding hit dice. With a base weapon damage of 1d8 (Longsword) and a hit dice of 1d8 (Fighter), the odds do not actually change. ...Yes? I never said it did. What I did do is explain the reason behind that abstraction, and...

Surviving A Dangerous Night Of Gaming With Original Dungeons & Dragons

You are correct in that it takes two swings to down a 3.X PC. However, that is trivial to fix, by requiring either a roll for hit points, or backwards-extrapolation of the alternate rules for average HP gain per level. With an average Fighter 1 having 7 HP, a single longsword swing of 1d8+2...

Surviving A Dangerous Night Of Gaming With Original Dungeons & Dragons

It should be entirely possible to play later games in an earlier style when it comes to the threats... Or, in the case of 3.X, challenge. Specifically, challenge rating. A CR of 1 is expected to deplete a small amount of resources (about 20%) for a party of 4 PCs. Left unstated is that said PCs...
