Well, that was an unpleasant way to wake up. Nightmare.

Good to hear. I hope the rest of them are ok. :(

Thanks. :) The repetitiousness needed to put out truly good story is why I am *not* a writer - Repeating the same task on the same material over and over again feels like running rough sand-paper over my frontal lobes. I did, however, read a lot of "How to write" material written by published...

    OOTS 1096: Brewmaster's Tale

If we list all the problems in fantasy that could have been solved by therapy (even if just one person listening), or proper communication, there would not be much left. And if we eliminated them, the reading options would be much smaller. Hmm...Which may be a major reason I like classic Star...

There are two major things I can see there, and the solution is the same for both. To begin, then, your descriptive text reads as if going down a list of elements to impart to the reader; and second, the scene is somewhat bare of details. Try picturing the scene from behind your viewpoint...

    [Humor?] our home and GITP

Indeed. I have often seen two contradictory posts on internet forums. The first is "Levelling up is too slow. I level my player's characters every session." The second is "I do not like high-level play. It is too confusing, and I do not know or really understand my character or their...

What are you reading - Sep 2017

Quite a lot of fanfiction. To critics, I reference the context of Sturgeon's Law, and also note that a lack of editor means that excellent stories which would normally never pass an editorial check, can also be posted.

There are better ideas for nuclear explosions. I particularly like the ones involving intra- and inter-stellar spaceships, and replacing aging nuclear power plants.

...No, no; you must have watched a fan project. I am fairly sure they just made one movie and two TV series.

Truly, an astounding level of effort. You are to be commended. I mean, pizza, taco burritos, TV, and D&D planning at the same time? The magic items to add the extra hands must have cost a fortune.

#RPGaDAY Day 21: What RPG does the most with the least words?

I would not support FATE Core for this category. The book is rather large and, while it does a lot, it does so with a lot of words. I have not seen Fate Accelerated, so my comment is only aimed at FATE Core.

    Terminal ballistics and armour-shattering arrows

That does sound useful. If it covers armour penetration formula(s), it would also be exactly what I need. :) I wasn't aware there were metal arrow shafts during the medieval ages - I cannot recall ever hearing about this. I am aware of carbon-fibre shafts, and like ideas, in modern times...

    Terminal ballistics and armour-shattering arrows

Well...I did actually learn more than "the heavy projectile penetrates the armour"; I was speaking out of some frustration. :) I have learned quite a bit of heuristic information. Thank you for the video, though. :)

    Terminal ballistics and armour-shattering arrows

Would anyone happen to know the answers to the following questions, with regards to collisions between projectiles (ex: arrows) and armour (ex: plate cuirasses)? I have, at this point, been able to determine that heavier, slower projectiles do less damage, but have an "armour piercing" effect...

Well, my congratulations on the Hobbitish qualities of your feet. ;) As for myself, I have walked with bare feet on gravel, and would not tie laces underneath the flaps. :)

Unfortunately, lacing on the bottom of the flaps is very uncomfortable for those of us of substantial height and, *ahem*, noticeable girth. Thee feets, you sees, hurts most abominably, when tens of pounds per square inch be pressing on the width of a string. One might also ask why, in the...
