    D&D 5E (2014) When -5/+10 starts becoming Very Reliable?

True. When you factor in that a character without the feat gets +1 to hit and damage typically until around 8th level, and that the damage is usually a bit higher with Greater Weapon fighting (8.3 for a greatsword), or rage or paladin smite then the extra damage is barely noticeable. Except for...

    D&D 5E (2014) When -5/+10 starts becoming Very Reliable?

You shouldn't need to change too much. The damage increase is only about 1-2 hp more per hit on average. In fact giving out a +1 or +2 weapon can have more of an effect than using this feat. I wouldn't compound the issue by doing both though

    D&D 5E (2014) When -5/+10 starts becoming Very Reliable?

My fix is as the DM to give the player a flame tongue. No more need for +10 damage

    D&D 5E (2014) The Eldritch Knight...what am I missing?

You probably want to go EK 11/Wiz 9 to get three attacks and 5th level spells (12th level caster) or EK 7/Wiz 13 (to use green-flame blade or booming blade with a bonus extra attack from war magic) and 7th level spells (15th level caster). Second option is probably stronger and more flexible...

D&D 5E (2014) I would really like a return of the old Bard class.

All though in some ways the 2e rogue like bard was the most powerful spell caster of the lot as they would likely be about one and a half times the level of the party wizard even if though had more limited spell choices

D&D 5E (2014) I would really like a return of the old Bard class.

Which kind of old bard do you mean? 1st edition druid based or 2nd edition wizard? 3rd edition They are all very different but I like all of them. I have a particular fondness of the multiclass chaos of the 1st edition version

D&D 5E (2014) Bellator Arcana - The Eldritch Knight Guide

I don't rate War Caster for an eldritch knight. Firstly, fighters get a pretty decent con saving throw anyway so the advantage on concentration checks is not really needed. Secondly it doesn't remove the requirement for material components and so you still need to sheath your weapon if you are...

D&D 5E (2014) How often do you use the versatile property?

The barbarian in the game I run has a magic battle-axe which he uses as a preference to his original great axe. I have seen a few characters use it when caught without a shield. They are good for small characters. Wizards and sorcerers might use a staff two handed from time to time. In general...

    D&D 5E (2014) High level play

Absolutely. In our epic campaign we don't adventure in the traditional sense. We actually use a different system (Microscope) to create the ongoing shared story and we develop our individual character goals out of game. My character spends most of his time creating his demiplane. The wizard is...

    D&D 5E (2014) High level play

Yeah I could have made that clearer. The classes are 20th level. We are just using higher character levels to represent number of boons, so a '23rd' level character has 3 boons. Most of these are conversions of older characters where they were that level. One campaign from 3rd/4th and the other...

D&D 5E (2014) Why (and when) did "Adventure Paths" replace modules?

We played the desert of desolation series in the early eighties. I think that would count as an adventure path

D&D 5E (2014) Why (and when) did "Adventure Paths" replace modules?

Ah yes great days of weekend playing. I miss those. Nowadays we tend to play 3 hours once a week and the adventure paths are just too long to keep interested in really. We tend to nip in and out of the adventure paths. I would certainly like shorter stories

D&D 5E (2014) Medium armor master: Too weak?

I have an elven fighter with medium armour master. I would say its not the best feat however reasons I took it We use the alternate rules for encumbrance and full plate is very heavy Stealth is important in the campaign we are playing. Its a small group He is the main fighter an AC is equally...

    D&D 5E (2014) High level play

The 23rd level characters are fairly recent conversions of our 4e characters that had just picked their epic destinies so we have made some attempt to recreate at least the same feeling. For example my character had just found their own demiplane and began to attune with it. My current epic...

D&D 5E (2014) Does the Eldritch Knight suck?

Hmm, its probably lacking in utility compared with jumping out at 7th level, but there are some pretty nice abilities gained at those later levels. Along with the standard fighter benefits of an extra action surge, two or more extra ASI's, 3 save rerolls a day and up to 4 attacks you get some...

    D&D 5E (2014) High level play

We are using the DMG epic boon system in our game and its working nicely. Most of the boons are custom created though, using the DMG ones as guidance. Our characters are currently 23rd and 26th (two campaigns) level

    D&D 5E (2014) Combat Encounter Difficulty

The encounter guidelines are certainly thrown when you use feats, magic items, rolled stats or larger parties. However the party composition can have a large effect on it too. Looking at this particular party it seems on the face of it to be very combat focused and less focused on exploration...

    D&D 5E (2014) Subtle change to component/focus rules

See I would say that technically your interpretation is a house rule, but to be honest it really doesn't matter as both ways are just fine

    D&D 5E (2014) Subtle change to component/focus rules

However that's not what it says, but I do think its a way of keeping casting simple for clerics and paladins. The symbol is on the shield. The shield is not the symbol. We play it like that

    D&D 5E (2014) Subtle change to component/focus rules

Bards, warlocks and eldritch knights don't have a quick fix shield option. I don't think paladins and clerics are special cases that need it
