How much would you sell a Bag of Devouring for ?

There was a great Ecology article in Dragon (don't remember the issue number) for Bags of Devouring. In the story, a rogue-type steals a magic ring and tries to hide in what he thinks is a bag of holding. Of course, it's really a bag of Devouring and he gets sucked into the stomach of the...

    Evil Deities & Their Followers

Sure, but Eberron is a whole different ball of wax. Nobody gets rewarded in the afterlife, the gods may or may not exist, and everybody has their own take on what the gods represent. I have no trouble with people worshipping 'evil' religions in Eberron.

Is Bardic Knowledge = to a feat ?

No, but I'd let you trade out Evasion for it.

Raise Dead (and similiar) = Straight xp penalty

I've never much cared for current way that level loss works after being returned from the dead. You are set to "mid-point" at the previous level, which can vary a lot based on whether you were at the top or bottom of the range for your level when the PC died. Has anyone experimented with using...

Resist Energy, Mass - Encounter Problem

Look at the OP. He specifically doesn't want to do that sort of thing in order to preserve a sense of theme and atmosphere. It might make sense from a logical perspective (sort of), but theme is more important than logic.

How much would you sell a Bag of Devouring for ?

An artificer can't xp drain it because it's a creature, not a magic item. It eats and presumably excretes and reproduces on some far plane. Might as well attempt to xp drain griffon eggs, which you can also buy and sell.

Law vs. Chaos - the forgotten conflict

Good and Evil represent a conflict of goals. Law and Chaos represent a conflict of methodologies. That's a different sort of conflict than the one between good and evil, and it should be run differently. Law and Chaos might well want the exact same thing, but disagree on the best way to...

How much would you sell a Bag of Devouring for ?

3000 gp as a "legitimate" offer from a powerful wizard who wishes to use it in research or a municipality who has a scheme to use it as waste disposal. 5000 gp as a shady offer from a criminal organization that wants to use it to dispose of corpses.

Anyone had a paladin Fall and then dropped the PC?

I probably said I agreed to that when I signed up for the class, but if I did I was lying. In my heart, I'm not willing to agree to that. So why bother playing it out? Dropping the character says, "I'm not interested in this."

Anyone had a paladin Fall and then dropped the PC?

I can't recall ever hearing of anyone who was playing a barbarian and had the DM involuntarily change their alignment to lawful. I'm sure it's happened, but I never hear about it. I might drop the barbarian or monk if their alignment were shifted to one that denied them further advancement in...

    Summon Nature's Ally

While technically true, most DMs have enough on their plate in a battle that they would rather leave it up to the player to run summoned critters. So many other things to be thinking about. That's true for just about any magical tactic, though. If the evoker is known for fireballs, the bad...

Sorry, can the mods please move this to General? Wrong forum.

    Summon Nature's Ally

All I can say is that for a druid, Augment Summoning really is worth two feats. It's most worth it from level 3 (when you start to get a decent summons duration) through level 13 (the top two levels of Summon Nature's Ally aren't as competitive).

Anyone had a paladin Fall and then dropped the PC?

Whenever I read the ever-running debates about paladins losing their powers, I always think the same thing. "If I was was playing a paladin who lost his powers, I'd just drop the character." I've not no interest in playing a fighter without bonus feats, any more than I am a wizard who lost his...

Locate Creature (and other spell questions)

Other side of a river. Though underneath a river would certainly work. Severely limits the usefulness of the the spell? Really? Note that the range on this spell is only 400 ft + 40 ft/level with a duration of 10 minutes/level. That's pretty good for sweeping a city or forest for someone...

Is a suppressed item considered non-magical for spell targeting?

I don't see how any of that is a problem. Really, how often do the players need to break magical items? Not that often. If a warlock happens to have the right combo to do it when it would be useful, good on him. All of those examples are of the PCs breaking into or out of things, and there...

    Help w/future assassin levels..

That's not how I interpret what he said. I thought he meant that he couldn't go back and retcon anything his character's build up to this point, not that he can't multi-class further in the future.

Can someone tell me how much this magic item would cost

Kind of boring, isn't it? All it does is duplicate spell effects. If you're making an item this powerful it should have some unique abilties not duplicated by any spells, with maybe some wonky fun conditionals to round it out. Like, maybe instead of "at-will" animate dead, give it the ability...

    [OOTS 479] Jaws of Life

The Oracle did say that Belkar should savour his next birthday, not make any long term investments, that sort of thing. He might have been kidding, but I don't think so.

    Paladin Actions - Appropriate?

Another possibility is that people read the code way too strictly, and that it's possible for different paladins to take different positions on a wide variety of matters without either one being in objective violation of the code. Smite the imp, don't smite the imp... isn't it possible that...
