    D&D 5E (2014) I Don't Like Damage On A Miss

I agree. So if you had enough fighters stand around a dragon, they would deal enough "miss" damage that they could kill it in a round or two.

    [June] What Are You Reading?

The Hyperion books were pretty cool. I loved the Shrike.

    How is it???

    [June] What Are You Reading?

I'm reading China Mievilles Embassytown. Its every bit as good as his Bas-Lag world stuff, but this is more of a higher science world(s). Very cool so far.

    Drunken Dwarf Defender

Maybe I'm adding too much biology to this, but how can the Dwarf get drunk? Liquor is a poision. Thats why it affects us the way it does. As such isnt the Dwarf immune?

n00bish questions regarding creating a campaign

Definitly listen to this. I know i'd not be too happy to be told I only have a choice of multiclassing or sticking with 1 of 3 classes.

Idea for Removing Wordy Spell Descriptions and Monster Stats

True. half of what is described in a good monster write up is how they are unique.

    Is slashing/bludgeoning/piercing damage even needed?

I'm sure there are lots of things included in the play test that not everyone got to use. Was it imperitive that they include all of it? No, but if someone wanted to throw in a skeleton, then there you go. For this play test they diddnt need to give us 30 some odd monsters, did they? 22 or...

    Variable HP for monsters

I too would like to see the hit dice. Sometimes you want to roll up a bunch of monsters. They arent all clones, right? Especially when your players start counting the damage done to find the best ways to kill them.

    Diablo 3 - What's Going On?

It sounds cool. I may have to pick it up after all.

XP? Sorry, I've been living under a rock.

So she got married on camera?

I don't understand Gridless combat. HELP!

I understand your want/need for a map and minis, but I don't need one. I do like some of the other poster's say and describe it as it happens, and let everyone know what happens as it happens. A map, minis, and the space for the map and minis just take up a lot of space.

    Move - Attack - Move

This could happen. The goblin chief points out the character with the magic item that the party has taken from the goblin's temple? Things like that make sense too.

    Move - Attack - Move

We didnt think it worked very well, especially without AoE's. So we didnt use it.

    D&D 3.x [3.5] A Blind Evil Cleric?

Just be careful. If you take blindness... permanent blindness without something to make that easier, it is a heck of a handicap. especially when you are the target of multiple attackers with arrows!

    Words are hard!

The one that always gets me is when someone says "The point is mute." Thats when I say: "If it is mute then why do I still hear it?" That never is as funny to the group as it is to me.

    Mind vs. Minis: THE POLL

No minis here. They make me feel like I'm playing Heroclix. Without Heroes. If things get complicated, I usually draw a small map and show everyone where they are.
  18. The Red King

So the playtest is out: What do you think? The EN World poll!

I like it when I choose the answer that everyone else does! It makes me feel like part of the group! Yay. Plus, I liked the play test. It went well with our group of 7 players.

    Advantages / Disadvantages

Thats really a problem that is going to trouble us? "Can I borrow a d20?" And be honest, how many of us have like a dozen d20's or more? All you need is one dice hoarder in the group, and you are all good. OR...... You roll the same die 2x?!?!?! I think we can handle it.

    Stacking advantage: doing the math

I say they should all stack. But then again, whatever the players can do, their adversaries can do as well.
