If looking at a Medusa made you turn to stone immediately, every time, then no one would be alive to tell you what it looked like. You need saving throws to avoid looking, and you need to be able to fight it without looking at it. But dont tone it down. A Medusa NEEDS to be deadly.

They have poison ivy for breakfast, poison oak for lunch, and pufferfish for dinner. Don't interrupt our magical lang storys with your real world logic! It is only one form of damage. And do you really think they wont come up with a magical poison that "over rides all forma of poison...

Thanks for the write up. My group will be playing this weekend, possibly with up to 8 players. We will see how it holds up with a larger group.

An actual dead god, or its avatar? Check out the module called Earthshaker. It was a mechanical/steampowered/magical giant metal humanoid. You had to fight it from the inside.

I agree. If I wanted to bog down the game with unimportant stuff, I'd make them stop to go to the bathroom too!

Knowing that he ISNT wearing that protection from missiles amulet, and that he just too off the ring of spell turning and the Prot+3 ring certianly makes him an easier target. So knowing what he is or isnt wearing can make a big difference. Especially if he takes them off and then goes outside.

If this came up im my campaign, a few things would happen: The "target" would have at least a few traps/protections set up for this type of thing. The local assasins guild would say something like "YES! we need to add this type of thing to our bag of tricks!" The PC's had better get...

I agree. I have re-read the Monster Manuals and other Creature Catalogs over and over looking for the right creature, or trying to make sure that each monster is different. If they all act the same, but just have different physical descriptions the game becomes stale.

Very cool. I have a weekly game that includes another father, and 4 kids. (a 14, two 13, a 9 and a 6 year old) Sometimes my wife, and another mother. We usually play D and D, but have played Rifts and Shadowrun. Teaching them these games young is very rewarding.

Spells like that are why my character always wears a costume. And undresses in the dark.
