You only have to worry about damaging tables with metal dice if you throw them high, or they have sharp corners. These are not big enough otherwise. I do have a pair of 6 sided dice made from steel that have sharp corners. They are the size of casino dice. I dont use them too often...

Exactly! You have to reward the players for thinking outside the box, and don't be so ridgid. Give it to them, and remember it for when an NPC can use that kind of thing against them!

Just remember to let them run if they figure out how to retreat. It will help them learn, AND keep the players happy.
