DM Tip Jar -- is that going too far?

I sometimes ask for "spare change" to cover the cost of printing out hand-outs and battle mats. It's more of a donation plate than a tip jar, I guess. I never expect to make enough money to cover those expenses, but every quarter helps.

So, I bet that the d12 is getting kicked to the curb...

I wouldn't mind seeing the inclusion of the d16... only because I already have one :D But really, if a die needs to be dropped, drop the d4, and then up the scale of everything. d4 to d6, d6 to d8, d8 to d10 and d10 to d12. However, I don't think we're going to see a core change of the...

A new name for Late 1E

... and the same art was used for The Goblin's Lair, an expansion/adventure to one of the later versions of the basic game.

    Core books cover art

Same here. I like WAR, but I don't like the image they've teased for the PHB.

Actual age of the 4th edition player base

I couldn't even begin to guess. One group I DM for has an average age of 31 (33, 33, 30, 28). Another group I DM for has an average age of 23 (33, 21, 21, 21, 21, 21). There's a group that games in the back of the FLGS on Wednesdays -- there are about seven of them and they range in age from 14...

A new name for Late 1E

In my personal collection list, I break up 1st edition into "Advanced, 1977" and "Advanced, 1983 revision" even though the so-called revision only involved errata, new covers and the release of some more hardbacks. I'm pretty sure the 1983 revision took place around the same time as the...

D&D 4E Simple Poll - How do you feel about 4E Right Now?

Thumbs up on most rule changes, thumbs down on fluff decisions (for the most part).

Ryan Dancey to self-publish tabletop RPG

It sounds like a good idea. Ever since I read Universalis, I've been toying with the age-old RPG question: how can we have a game with a GM that doesn't feel like a board or card game?

I don't think Exemplars of Evil is doing that hot

I've had no problem finding this book in multiple brick-and-mortar stores for MSRP or less. By increased value, do you mean through eBay or sites like that?

How would you like the Monsterous Manual organized

No stat blocks broken up over two pages, unless those two pages are facing each other. If at all possible, I'd like all the information for each monster presented in it's own section. One page or multiple pages, if necessary, but no information for more than one monster per page, unless they...

Will You Count "Roman Numeral" Books As Core?

If the material in the books is covered under the OGL and included in the SRD, I'd probably consider it core.

D&D 4E What period of D&D art would you most like to see 4E emulate?

I love the old art from the Moldvay/Cook D&D and the 1st edition of AD&D, but I don't really care to see black and white line art in 4e D&D. Leave that to 3rd party publishers who need to cut costs, and let them excel in emulating the good old days (I love the interior art in Dungeon Crawl...

Dungeon Crawl Classics: Crypt of the Devil-Lich Wilderlands of High Fantasy Knights of the Dinner Table (has contained d20 compatible stuff for the past few years, I think)

No Macs? Holy crap did WotC do the math wrong!

The point is that we won't be using the DI/VTT, not that we won't be using a different product that has cross-platform capability.

No Macs? Holy crap did WotC do the math wrong!

Here's a funny little story... I had been prepared to ignore the DI outright, and the virtual tabletop as well. I always prefer to play with local groups. The social aspect is part of the appeal of the game. Well, I met some people at Dragon*Con who I wanted to start running games for. They...

    Best WotC Books of 3.0/3.5?

Dungeon Master's Guide II Unearthed Arcana Living Greyhawk Gazetteer Honorable mention goes to the Forgotten Realm Campaign Setting book. I've never played in the Realms, but I really liked that book.

D&D 4E What do you think should be the primary source of inspiration for 4ed flavor?

I voted "D&D Tradition" but to me that would also include modern fantasy literature. This is because the original D&D was influenced heavily by the popular fantasy literature of the time. It seems that the current 4e design (and late 3.5 design) is making the same mistake that 2e did: the...

Dear WotC - You suck at names.

"Hail! I am Badgertooth Bladeblade the Hexblade, Redblade of the Emerald Frost bladeclan. I have called you all here with my Infinitysimal Summonhorn to the Ogredagger Inn of Greydale to discuss a dire threat to all of us who live here on Erdoerthicusican, this planet on which we all live. A...

"4th Edition will assume roughly 10 encounters per level"

So, in 3.5 it would take 260 encounters to get to the top (level 20). In 4e, it will take 300 encounters to get to the top (level 30). Sounds good to me, especially since the top levels in 4e are probably more like epic levels than the 3.5 20th level.
