4th ed books you want at launch

One or two conversion books updating all the (usable) feats, core classes, prestige classes, races, magic items and spells from 3.5 to 4.0. I imagine that under the new rules many of the feats and core classes will become obsolete, so they wouldn't need to be included. Instead, a page...

D&D 4E Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

I would hope that WotC is smart enough to realize that any product released so close to the announcement of a new edition isn't going to sell as well as previous products, no matter what the subject or campaign setting is.

Would anyone prefer spellcasting to stay as it is?

While I like the Vancian system, WotC might as well change everything in D&D4e. It has strayed far from it's roots in Jack Vance, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, Fritz Leiber, and Tolkien. The current D&D model is based on anime, wuxia and video games -- video games that D&D influenced!

D&D 4E Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

I was going to get City of Brass and Expedition to the Ruins of Castle Greyhawk. However, since I doubt I will get through my current 3.5 material backlog in two years time, I decided to cancel those. From now on, I'll only be buying 3.5 books that are 57%-off the MSRP, as opposed to my usual...

*POLL* Do You Feel That Greyhawk is a Dead Campaign Officially?

For the entirety of D&D 3.0 and 3.5, all the material in non-Eberron or Forgotten Realms books was assumed to belong to Greyhawk by default. While this certainly deviates from a rigidly defined canon, I've found that this Greyhawk toolkit approach has been very useful. If someone at WotC...

One Level Scale to Rule Them All?

I was really hoping for this. I would love to see the spell level equal the class level. It would make things so much simpler.

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

There's really no point in attempting to appease demographics who won't buy the product anyway. I believe Gygax made a similar observation long ago.

    D&D 4E New Greyhawk enhancement art - 4e style?

This is really nice. While I like WAR, I think this is the style of art that would work better on the cover of the 4e books.

    PHB, MM, DMG covers

I really like the layout of the covers. I never like "framed" pictures on a cover. Also, I like WAR's stuff -- but I don't really like the PHB cover here. I was excited originally because I thought the adventurers fighting the green dragon was the PHB cover. I think it would work much better...

    D&D 4E D&D 4E Presentation videos

I agree with this. My gaming group isn't going to give WotC $50 a month to store some character sheets on a remote server and access multiple copies of the same articles. It just doesn't make sense. The DM tools seem a little iffy to me. Instead of designing a game that doesn't need software to...

    D&D 4E D&D 4E Style

It's funny -- when 3.0 first came out, I hated the fake book look and you liked it. :D The only reason I remember that is because it was the first argument I had on enworld. :uhoh: But I'm glad they're going to art covers. I hope they use the FR style layout and design in the core books...

"Some" traditional classes to get the axe - Which ones do you reckon?

The Monk will probably go -- it's only allowed to exist in odd numbered editions.

D&D 3.x 3.5 is the REAL reason everyone is angry

I agree with this. Anyone who played D&D RAW couldn't use a mix of 3.0 and 3.5 PHBs at the table. Also, the amount of conversion between 3.0 and 3.5 materials was an extra drain on DM resources (again, mostly for those who play RAW). Learning a set of rules is kind of like learning a new...

Sales drought for WotC until mid-2008?

I think it will be more damaging to 3rd party d20 publishers such as Paizo, Goodman Games and Necromancer. Any print publisher who has just put out a d20/3.5 compatible book is probably cursing their bad luck. WotC has had time to prepare. Sure, their sales will be down, but they knew exactly...

    D&D 4E Will you buy 4e?

4.5e I answered "I probably will not buy it, but might eventually" because I probably won't be buying it until the first "revision" comes out.

    Necromancer's City of Brass

I had pre-ordered it from Books-A-Million, but then it was listed as "out of stock" and I canceled the order. I got cold feet about spending that much money I guess. :-) Now I'll be waiting for reviews of the product before I attempt to order it again.

Paladin + Monk + Druid + Sorcerer: a good party?

If the sorcerer has access to spells or magic items that can take the place of rogue abilities, it might not be too bad.

    Why does D&D have bears?

    Because bears are totally awesome.
