Last Few RPG Products you purchased?

Orcs & Goblins Codex for Warhammer Fantasy Legion of Gold for Gamma World Wrath of Ashardalon Famine in Far-Go for Gamma World HackMaster Basic Rogue Trader: Core Rulebook ALL of my RPG purchases have dipped since around the time D&D 4.5e launched. There really isn't much going on in other...

Are Nick Logue's Promises of Refunds Empty?

It sounds like he has produced his darkest material yet... nothing!

    Heavy Metal RPG anyone?

The magazine Heavy Metal is a pretty broad showcase. An RPG based on the magazine would probably be ideologically similar to the Starblazers RPG. As for the archetypes of the genre/lifestyle Heavy Metal (from its origin as a fictional drug penned by William S. Burroughs and on through the...

So it's finally happened? D&D reduced to board games...

I think 4e does a great job with miniature skirmish gaming and board gaming. Long term / Campaign RPGs, not so much (though that could be fixed easily enough with more not-in-combat reskin options for powers -- if it hasn't been done in Essentials and DDI already). I'd love to see the current...

The flattening of Dungeons and Dragons

I love miniatures, but I think WotC is making a smart move by moving to counters for now. Here's hoping they don't start releasing blind packs of collectible tokens. Crap, now I know it's going to happen.

    Old School Hack

I really like the layout of Old School Hack. I think that's one of the things that the Mentzer editions, AD&D 2e revised and D&D 4e are really lackiing: a page layout that is engaging -- and even inspiring -- to the eye of a new player.

    DDI 1/18 Update Delayed

That's OK, my payments to WotC are being delayed as well :-)

    My love letter to WotC

Exactly -- the only thing they would be selling would be the "D&D" name. OSRIC and L&L and all other retro-clones would still exist, for free, in perpetuity, as they shall anyway in our current reality. I didn't really think about it earlier, but by selling licenses for older editions to 3rd...

    My love letter to WotC

As much as I'd like to see WotC offer their older edition products again, that would pretty much be "fragmenting the game." I think WotC could benefit from creating official source documents for 0D&D, AD&D 1e, AD&D 2e, D&D 3e (yes, just like the original SRD) and "expansion" source documents...

WotC Discontinues Minis: How Much Does It Affect You?

I use lots of miniatures in my games, but they are almost all metal miniatures. I would have been on board with the D&D monster miniatures if they hadn't been a "collectible" randomized commodity. They really dropped the ball by not releasing a set of miniatures and tiles to go with Keep on...

    A rant on retro clones...

Hey, don't forget Castles & Crusades! It's totally 100% compatible with paper!

    Best RPG buys of 2010?

I would say that Gamma World and the Ravenloft boardgame are tied for my "best" buys of the year. Gamma World for it's out-of-the-box playability (and campaign-ability) and Ravenloft for it's physical components and ingenuity as a 4e board game.

Wizards: Musings on the new DDi disaster

4e had great potential, but much of the "oomp" of the launch was lost because their best introductory product "Keep on the Shadowfell" was priced to high to be a reasonable intro to the game. Also, at that time, Wizards was trying to pull their PR on 4e into the insider model -- meaning that it...

D&D 4E 4E DMs: What setting are you currently using?

Homebrew with Nentir Vale/default setting combined with Greyhawk and non-specific settings from the pre-1983 D&D adventures. Names changed and swapped as desired. I also use the World of Warcraft setting as a generic "backbone" for the whole thing. I picked up the WoW atlas books, which have...

    Monster vault: I has it

I am actually interested in what tokens are included Since I already have two 4e Monster Manuals, the only thing that would interest me in regard to this product are the tiles, the adventure and the box!

D&D is now in (exceedingly awesome) commercial form

I mentioned this in the other thread about this commercial, but the reason I feel that the "cheap" nature of the commercial works is that it fits in well with [adult swim] style cartoons and marketing. When I saw the commercial, it was on Hulu.com while I was watching Caprica. It fit in...

    RPGs in Target!

I still can't find the new commercial online. Is it hidden on the WotC website somewhere?

    RPGs in Target!

Well, I just saw the D&D commercial on Hulu, and it was awesome. I tried to find it online, and my Google search came up with this thread as the top result. Heavy metal, "animated" art from the Fiend Folio and other old school books... low budget but in an Adult Swim kinda way instead of a...

    No Character Builder Update

It seems pretty darn unprofessional for them to miss this month's update, especially with the big Essentials marketing push going on. Reminds me of the 4e books being released with a huge DDI advertisement in the back... but none of their advertised features were even ready at the time. I...
