Help me defend a pass. (My players go away!)

Where is the spell Feathers? see, i knew a druid would have some tricks up his sleeve, they usually do in an outdoor setting. That's their bag, man.

Help me defend a pass. (My players go away!)

Well, if i was a PC and saw that i would think of nothing OTHER than a way of getting around! A long hike in game terms is preferable to getting trounced by squads of orcs, ballistae and trolls. That's always fun to do though, throw something insane hard at PC's where they are just meant to...

The Quests of Samantha the Red (pictures included-updated 8/5)

Just saw this thread for the first time. Nice job, Rel. I think your daughter will probably be a roleplayer for life.

Help me defend a pass. (My players go away!)

alsih20, what is your ultimate goal for this little scenario? Do you want your party to find a way to DEFEAT the enemies guarding the lake exit, or to find a way to sneak past them and continue on? I think that four 7th level characters would have an impossible time defeating this encounter...

[Grim Tales] Help me write an adventure

Durn you Wulf! Your link has diverted me the past two hours looking up Nazi's, Madame Blavatsky, Atlantis and Lemuria! Ok, i like the ideas about research in the arctic. The Thing (Carpenter's) is one of my favorite movies, but i understand we don't want a true horror theme going on here...

TPK last night - 1st one (sniff)

Wulf, it must be great to see those numbers plugged in and have them work out so nicely! It did seem like a hard encounter, probably harder than the PC's anticipated, expecially after wonking a black dragon, but they could have run and regrouped as well.

    The ultimate guide to D&D?

Well, while i doubt i would buy the DnD for Dummies, i sort of think it is a neat idea. If a product like that had existed in the 80's, maybe my Mom wouldn't have had such a s*it-fit over DnD! It is a book i will definitely thumb thru for pleasure. I'm actually expecting it to have humor...

    Wither Star Wars d20?

This is a totally off the wall wet dream, but i wish Lucas would license out the rights to SW to other directors and writers, all with his final approval of course as to what becomes canon. It won't happen, but it would be nice. There would be a neverending supply of source material and dark...

    Iron Lore: Malhavoc's Surprise?

Mike, can you tell us the page-length of this book? Is it at least longer than Iron Might? Of course, i could probably patiently wait 24 hours and find out officially from malhavoc, but i was curious. I really like the way this system sounds. I might try to incorporate some of these elements...

    Iron Lore: Malhavoc's Surprise?

This sounds great! If nothing else it sounds like it will have great ideas to derive piecemeal and tack onto any game or setting.

    pogre's model and figure thread

Fantastic stuff, pogre. I haven't checked out this thread in over 6 months and i'm glad i did! There were some great additions. And i agree with what you said early on about watching zilch TV. Cut that outta your life and all kinds of time is freed up! Say, what do you teach anyway, and do the...

    Wither Star Wars d20?

When i started my SW d20 buying binge i found a nearly inexaustable supply of books on Amazon from other developers, not necessarily gaming books. There were dozens of compilations from the expanded universe that categorized every alien, vehicle, weapon and planet that appeared in any medium...

    Tell me about Blue Rose

Hmm. Sounds sort of interesting, even if just from a rules point of view. I've read very few of the books mentioned above, so i suppose the genre is not one that particularly hooks me (did love Earthsea though). Now, as for the magic system being based on the Psychic Handbook, that does sound...

    EnWorld DM to Player ratio

I DM all the time. I wouldn't mind be a player once in a while, but i find the GM aspect for fun. I've had players offer to DM before but it has rarely come to fruition.

    Tell me about Blue Rose

I'm not really sure what this is about. I heard "romance" and DnD at one point, but the two don't really mix well in my mind. Can anyone shed some light?

    D&D 4E DnD 4E DOA?

I would think that WotC would be wary of spinning out a new edition too soon. I mean, that would really tick off a lot of people who have spent thousands on a game they enjoy, only to have it essentially discontinued for "a new and improved and ALMOST the same" version. It's a fine line the...

    Wither Star Wars d20?

I don't play d20 SW much but i have a lot of the books and i hate to hear that it might fall by the wayside. It was really a topnotch product, with wonderful accessories and a rich, rich universe to mine. There are hundreds of books GM's can mine for ideas, even if the actual number of published...

    D&D 4E DnD 4E DOA?

I don't think WotC is anywhere near running out of material for 3rd edition. But the game will (or already has) become just as bloated and out of control as 2nd edition with its Combat and Magic expansion books, even more so. In the next few years we'll see more and more alternate rules (i...

    Wither Star Wars d20?

I think Dungeon or Polyhedron (before they canned it) would have been the ideal avenue for SW d20 adventures. Not in every issue maybe, but i'm sure it would have fulfilled some niche need in the gaming community. I think d20 fantasy has adventures galore from magazine to third party developers...

    RANT - Obsession with Clerics

Although i haven't tried it yet, i like the idea of converting lethal damage to subdual damage and then having characters recuperate fully within a few hours, sort of giving them time to walk out the bruises and aches. A little more gritty.
