Forked Thread: Torchwood - Children of Earth (Spoilers)

Okay, that would have made the story better - and Jack still would had something to grief about - and the mother would still hate Jack (because, frankly, a child doesn't fully understand what such a sacrifice would mean). Ah, yes - I also agree with that. It was a bit of a let down after seeing...

Forked Thread: Torchwood - Children of Earth (Spoilers)

Actually, for me that was the first really, really good Torchwood "episode". The plot fitted nicely, tension was good and worked well - but then I take you're not a fan of Torchwood's tone, which is decidedly grim, dark and bleak. Yeah, not light-hearted pulpy sci-fi like Dr. Who, more like...

A pound, as in "pound sterling" - £. Has nothing to do with squids. Cheers, LT.

Also on Greek and Latin - words are stressed almost exactly as in Latin. :p Other news: Now, I have 3 GB RAM! I don't hear my HD any longer, because it almost never has to load stuff! And cheap enough, too - 2 GB for a bit more than 20 quids. :D Cheers, LT.

Future Eberron - Post apoc world

...you could go with plain old "mundane" radiation. In a magic-driven society, normal radiation would probably be really, really strange, because dispel magic and so on doesn't work, nor would it care for magic (like Wild Magic and stuff) - for a magic-driven society, that's pretty unfathomable...

SciFi Show Theme Music - Forked Thread: Wars or Trek?

Yes, this one is great! :D Also... if we're talking about SciFi Theme music, you *have* to include these two: YouTube - Raumpatrouille Orion YouTube - Doctor Who 2008 Series 4 - Full New Theme Cheers, LT.

I just accidentlied all over the new HIVE! lol

Huh, maybe because I'm not hiving that much nowadays, so I probably missed your last visit - the last couple of weeks were busy (exams & summer student project) and for free time... CivIV + mods got me hooked. Again! Cheers, LT.

RSDancey replies to Goodman article (Forked Thread: Goodman rebuttal)

Also, in the last couple of years, I got the feeling that - at least on this side of the pond - people tend to move more than before. This tend to tear up established groups and can easily lower the enthusiasm for playing a RPG. Cheers, LT.

Monster Manual: Legendary Evils Complete Set!!

Whoa, they're awesome! Almost all minis are a good choice and all visibles are basically awesome must-haves. That probably ensures that people want to get one of each! Which is a good strategy - and one that I like! :D Cheers, LT.

Ancient aliens on the history channel. Arrrrghhh!

I think it was parody... the "saurian media overlords... fight the Vampire Illuminati directly" was probably rather obvious, no? Cheers, LT.

It was - a couple of years ago (I think '04 or so, it was before my time), the UMIST and Victoria University merged and changed their name to "University of Manchester" - but we inherited a lot of physicists from the UMIST, AFAIK (no clue about the other departments). Cheers, LT.

University of Manchester - not Metropolitan. There's quite a bit of confusion going on, since there are two relatively big universities here - next to each other too. Cheers, LT.

Yeah, physics undergrad here, after the summer I start my last year. And I'm actually not bad at physics, just not at thermodynamics. Seriously, I had a harder time wrapping my head around that than quantum mechanics or relativity, the poster children of modern and/or difficult physics. Cheers, LT.

    Wahoo vs. Traditional

Of course, even Tolkclones can vary. Because my games fall down in roughly three categories (sometimes even in a single campaign): 1) My personal wahoo: Weird. Strange. Think Moorcock, Planescape, Mieville. Things that sort of make sense, but not always to our everyday definition of reality. To...

    Neverwinter Nights MMO Rumour

Cryptic Studios, according the the rumour? Really? They are working on two MMOs already (the stuck-in-development-hell Star Trek MMO they got from Perpetual and Champions) - and now they are supposed to work on a third one? Sure, CoH/CoV were pretty good - but working on three big time projects...

Rate the new Star Trek Film

Ditto here, as a kid, TNG was great and I kept some ideas from it. But I have to say, DS9 aged much better than TNG. Reruns of DS9 tend to suck me in, TNG... not so much. Cheers, LT.
