    Class Construction Guide requesting feedback

Absolutely. This is great, thank you for this. This is the core problem with any point buy system. Depending upon the campaign setting and your play style, every ability can have a different cost. It was the reason many people don't like point buy systems. If you change one ability cost, does...

    Class Construction Guide requesting feedback

Let's try one just for giggles, The ultimate ranger in the link. Ultimate Ranger: Hit Dice d10 (40), 4 skill points per level (30), 19 class skills (20), Good BAB (50), One good save (15), Proficient with all armors and shields (35), proficient with all weapons (25), six bonus feats (30), Track...

    Class Design poll

In other words, do I want the classes to reflect the setting or the setting to reflect the classes. Well, since I have a 25 year old setting I really like, the classes get changed. Thank you all for your advice, it was very helpful.

How about for creating prestige classes?

    New D20 combat system

I've seen other games do this before. The most modern one I've seen is At Close Quarters (includes Penguins). This makes for a very realistic combat system, though somewhat more complex. If you are interested in ACQ, I've done most of the conversion to D20.

    Class Design poll

That is a good question. I don't have a good game mechanic reason for prefering few classes/many talent trees vs many classes. I've co-opted the Prestige class idea of the character joining an organization to be a part of the class. For example, Imperial Line Marine as a class. So there is a...

A series of Cyberpunk styled PDFs

I completely agree with the point that much (but not all) of cyberpunk has been about the dehumanizing effect of technology and the changes technology brings to society and culture. What I object to is the game mechanics intruding in unbalanced ways. If technology is dehuamanizing, why is the...

    Class Design poll

The D20 Modern base classes are very general. It is the Advanced classes which are very specialised, much more than the T20 classes. The progression (in my mind) goes: D20 Modern Base classes -> T20 classes -> D20 Advanced classes -> D20 Prestige Classes. If you try an shove the T20 classes...

    Class Design poll

I'm using the 10 level Base classes, 10 level Advanced classes and 5 level prestige classes. To match the D20 modern style of class design. I was going to add two new base classes (based upon the two additional attributes in T20), 30 Advanced classes and 16 prestige classes. Too many, not...

    Class Design poll

I'm coming up with a set of classes for a D20 modern/future game. OK, I'm writing up a set of D20 Modern classes for Traveller. Traveller D20 uses a few classes, but they are very generic. D20 Modern advanced classes seem (to me anyway) to be very specific. When I tried to emulate the detail...

A series of Cyberpunk styled PDFs

I also read through it. I hate, loathe and despise any cybernetic system which turns heavy users of cybernetics into raving psychopaths. And I can find a fair number of nitpicking comments on other things. There are some good ideas: The Getting a Life looks good and I may borrow it.

    Traveller t20 and d20 Future

I would be very interested in seeing what you would suggest doing to the "weak" T20 classes to empower them to the level of the "strong" classes, or vice versa. I don't see there being a significant difference between the classes.

    Feats Database Bug Report Thread

Is the source information displayed anywhere? Even it it's not in the column format, is it displayed in the full feat layout somewhere?

Looking for alternate skill rules for D&D

I can think of two ways of doing the multiple attacks. First would be to keep the second attack at -5, third at -10 and so on, as it exists now, based upon the skill ranks. The second would be to add a new "Multi-attack" feat, which would allow the character two (or more, the feat would stack)...

Looking for alternate skill rules for D&D

What areas are you looking to expand the skill list? One suggestion might be to remove the BAB, and add a selection of "weapon skills", which is used instead of BAB to attack with. So, for example, you would have the skills: One handed swords, two handed swords, polearms, axes, daggers, bows...

    Feats Database??

As a sub-forumn to this one, there is a new Feats database. Can someone (perhaps michael) let us know about this project? Are you planning on entering all of the SRD feats? I have two netbook collections of feats (Gryphon's netbook of feats by Robert Smith) and the FanCC's Netbook of feats...

    Traveller t20 and d20 Future

Hi James, I was one of the T20 playtesters. During the playtest no one ever brought up the fact that the T20 classes must be balanced in the way you are discussing. The reason is that the T20 combat is so much more deadly than normal D20, the differences in levels are much less noticable. That...

Easy to learn full-blooded magic system

I symathize with "adanacyr". I am also a long time DM who has trouble keeping track of the 2000+ spells that inhabit the D&D worlds. I've tried everything: Making smaller lists of spells, designing my own spells, none of it seems to work. If the D&D magic system, with it's huge list of spells...

    There is no moon.

No moon. Some effects your players should notice: Little or no tides, the sea remains always the same level or nearly so. There are solar tides but they are much smaller than the lunar ones. No moon, no tides. The night would always be very dark, except for the few stars. No Eclipses. These...

    Can somebody Explain Gurps?

I found the GURPS system pretty intutive. There are two rolls; skill rolls (where you want to roll low) and damage rolls (where you want to roll high). If you played hero the point buy system for character creation will be very familiar. The system closest to GURPS is Hero, many of the concepts...
