    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

We are speaking about magic that is uncommon, performed by people that are uncommon, in worlds with extremely limited and unreliable means of divulgation. Furthermore, we're speaking of Medieval levels of scholasticism here when it comes to spellcasters and their knowledge, and that's in the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

I think you are overstating the availability of such sources of information in a typical D&D world. Maybe in a place like Sharn, Waterdeep, or Mount Nevermind a regular person might have a chance of brushing up with people with the understanding, reputation, and inclination to share their...

    D&D 5E (2014) Atheism in DnD

In Planescape (though not necessarily in all of D&D), atheists get only oblivion, though it is specified that this is reserved for people who had absolutely no hint of belief in not just gods, but on there being any sort of afterlife. So no matter how good or evil a person is, if he doesn't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unconscious/Dead Creatures' Space

"The fad continued to gain steam with students skipping classes to plan their phone booth stuffing event. Some phone booth stuffers dieted beforehand and some worked on various stacking techniques (such as the “crosshatch” stacking method that was used to set the St. Mary’s College record)."...

D&D 5E (2014) So did that employee ever return from his Jury Duty?

What if this is all a clever ruse so they can later surprise us with the announcement of "Lawmasters: A D&D adventure of juridical intrigue"? With new stuff like the Bureaucracy domain for the Clerk subclass or the spells Power Word: Objection! and Mordenkainen's Curious Courtroom?

    D&D 5E (2014) Whimsy in your game?

I always like a bit of whimsy fun. Nary a game goes into which I don't add at least a little bit of Baron of Münchhausen stuff.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unconscious/Dead Creatures' Space

I interpret that rule on a case-by-case basis, due to the abstract nature of the space mechanics: In some cases, the size/shape of a creature really does make it impossible for someone else to occupy the same physical space (ie, a gelatinous cube or a giant), while in others it would appear to...

Which deities and pantheons have you used in your D&D fantasy settings?

When I'm running a campaign in one of my custom settings, it's all home-brewed deities. If I'm using a published setting, I always include a bit -or a lot, depending on the case- of Planescape, so in those cases the full PS god-galore is included, with both made-up and real-world deities...

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

I meant to say I disagree on the veracity and/or precision of those claims, as well and their exact relationship regarding GamerGate users. However, I apologise for commenting on the subject, which I believe Morrus asked to avoid debating on the forums. I'm sorry.

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

I agree. If it was exclusionary, it wouldn't have expanded in markets in which what constitutes a minority in the US is actually the majority. For example, here in Chile the game has primarily expanded among the middle-lower classes since the 80's (in the 70's it had very little exposure, since...

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

I understand. My point was referring to why the ability score bonuses (and other mechanical differences, such as resistances and whatnot) are a reasonable way of expressing natural differences in the capacities and potentialities of different races, and that in such context it makes sense that...

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

I'm assuming that whenever there is a bonus to an ability score, it is because the -physiological/intellectual/magical/mystical/etc- characteristics of the race differ enough that it goes beyond what a "hardy group of humans" could get by normal means (there's always magical/mystical/etc means...

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

But it does make sense that there would be biological differences between the races of a typical D&D world. If nothing else, the physiology alone should account for some baseline characteristics. Even if there are no genes in a fantasy world and it is all just magic, being intrinsically more...

    D&D 5E (2014) The word ‘Race’

I like the use of the term "race" within the context of D&D; it has become an imprecise and informal term in mainstream sciences, and thus flexible enough to work well with the traditionally inconsistent, but otherwise well-established, smorgasbord of species, subspecies, phenotypes, and "other...

    D&D 5E (2014) Famous last words

"I'll have you know the prophecy says I'm immortal" "Oh, shoot. I'm allergic to death" "Tell my apprentice... to burn the reccord of my Scrying searches..." "This whole dying thing. Not a fan" "Well, from where I'm standing, you're the one fading to black. Hah..." "I hit Continue! I said I...

D&D 5E (2014) Campaign Settings 5e- Why I want to Forget the Realms

I actually avoided Forgotten Realms for the past 20 years until I started DMing 5e. Now I'm happily running a campaign about pirates, flying towers, and surfing wizards from Nimbral (using AD&D 2e's version of the setting, though). It's been a blast, and I can't wait to incorporate more FR into...

    D&D 5E (2014) Farts (serious question)

In a way you already did! Pun is old ladies' slang for Fart in Castilian.

    D&D 5E (2014) Farts (serious question)

There ought to be a section of the Elemental Plane of Air were "odorous winds" happen with enough frecuency as to be a proper place for there to be an entire realm sunken in farts. Probably ruled by a djinn who has clearly fallen our of favour (from the City of Ass, perhaps?). The Paraelemental...

Note to WotC: They're not TRPGs. They're just RPGs.

Thanks to the disorderly adoption of certain Anglicisms, here in Chile (where we speak Castilian) we avoid the problem by calling TRPGS "JdRs" ("Juegos de Rol" or "Roleplaying Games") and CRPGs simply RPGs. I think it must be similar in other Castilian-speaking countries, but I'm not sure.

what's a great steampunk campaign (system doesn't matter)?

Space 1889 (a game set in a Victorian Age in which space travel has become a posibility, and in which the planets are modeled after the old idea that they were all similar to Earth but in different stages of living and geological development) includes a few adventures within its handbook, one...
