Biggest difference is that a +1 weapon gives +1 to damage and attack rolls, whereas masterwork only gives +1 to attack rolls. Depending on your setting and DM's rules, you may need to have a magical (+1 or greater) weapon to effectively damage certain monsters.

I love dark fantasy, and really enjoy playing Dragon Age: Origins. Is it fairly easy to divorce the DA:RPG rules from the setting/fluff ? Nothing against Ferelden, but I'd enjoy setting a dark fantasy game in my own world using the DA:RPG rules, if I pick the box up.
