    D&D 3.x [3.5] Rogue's Sneak Attack

Are there people who actually think the rogue's sneak attack as is, is overpowering? Compared to a fighter their BAB, amount of feats and hit points are lower, which means that they do not hit nearly as often nor can they stay as long in a fight. To sneak attack they also have to be in a pretty...

[3.5] Got the books, noticed a couple things...

Well, the druid can always cast animal growth on himself... Ploymorph: "The subject's creature type and subtype (if any) change to match the new form." Combined with the feat natural spell and the druid can animal growth himself ;) It is an interesting error though because it will have a...

    Damage Reduction

One dagger is still more expensive then no dagger ;) This is indeed one of the points that I do not like about the new DR rules. The thing is that it has more to do with monster design then the actual rules. If they had add 'or chaotic' or 'or lawful' to all fiendish DR (alignment dictating...

    D&D 3.x Tower Shields [3.5]

Towershields grant a +4 to AC and when you take the fully defensive actions, they grant total cover accept against spells (it does not block line of sight). It weights 45 lbs. and it gives an armour check penalty of -10. It also limits dex bonus to AC to +2. You also cannot shield bash with it...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Spells (New & Changes)

An elf is a humanoid as is a human. You are referring to sub-types and considering the wording of the spell they clearly do not make the differentiation. Other change - the emotion spell has been split in different spells with different areas and a duration as opposed to concentration.

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Bardic Music ability prereqs

Short answer: No. Quote from new PHB - "If a bard does not have the required number of ranks in at least ONE perform skill, he does not gain the bardic music ability until he acquires the needed ranks." Mind you, they increased the power of many of the bardic song abilities. For example...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Feinting in Combat

Opponents with the uncanny dodge can be effected by a feint. It was one of the things I checked when I borrowed the revised edition PHB. The mechanics are slightly changed though, since it is NOT a flat sense motive check. The base attack roll of the opponent is added to the sense motive roll.

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Familiars?

Bat - +3 to listen Hawk - +3 to spot in bright light Lizard - +3 to Climb

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Tumble

I might have missed it being mentioned in this thread (I am not too keen on the discussion on static versus opposed), but they definitely did change the way tumble work from 3.0. First of all, you have to make a check for EACH opponent you pass and every opponent after the first increase the DC...

    D&D 3.x [3.5] Spells (New & Changes)

Energy Resistance now also increases with level, it becomes a 20 and even 30 at higher levels. I also wouldn't call endure elements useless. It still protects against normal environments ;) Alter self btw completely polymorphs the caster into the new shape. The new shape is limited to your own...

[3.5] Cohorts no longer gobble up party XP

If there is one thing clear to me from this discussion then it is that cohorts should not fall under the leadership feat. Cohorts are mostly treated as full fledged party members with their own goals and personalities that just happen to have a close bond with one of the PCs. From an IC...

    Do you use NPC classes!?!

As most other people, I rarely need to work out the stats for commoners and experts. On a few occassions I did need the stats for aristocrats. I use warriors regularly, because I see fighters as elites. I hate adepts, though the idea of customizing the spelllists and to adopt the class to...

[OT] What is the most "wasted" money spent on a gaming item.

If one considers 'never having used it' the criteria for wasted money, I could fill pages with titles. I am one of those persons who buys many things even when he knows it will never be used. I love to read d20 products, so I don't consider such things a waste. Besides, sometimes I surprise...

    D&D 3.x Jumping Rules 3.5?

Because they are modifying the price for ALL skill boosting items and with reasons to. IMO they were way too cheap, especially for skills like search, spot, listen en tumble. So they could either make the basic DMG item more expensive, which is a lot harder to convert, or simply reduce the...

The optimal number of participants (player AND DM)!

I voted five, but to be honest, it depends on the gaming system, campaign and players involved.

What type of DM are you??

I am primaraly a storyteller, but once combat starts (or when designing a combat encounter) I land squarly in the tactician part. I think my players would actually agree with this assessment ;)

Pissed about the reduction of the Spell Focus Feats

I play in a similar group and I don't know any arcane wizard who did not take spell focus. So clearly, experiences with this feat differ between groups.

    Bluff as a free action.

Why is it overpowered? It simply means that you might have a chance of a sneak attack with every attack. How does that differ from outflanking somebody (except that people with uncanny dodge are not immune to bluffing)? According to Monte Cook sneak attack is balanced if every attack the rogue...

    Please rate Arterial Strike

How often does bleeding come into effect when used against opponents of the PCs? The creature is dead within a few rounds, and that one 1d6 deals on average more damage in that same time. Now if a PC might be able to change his full sneak attack number of dice in one massive arterial stroke then...

    Balancing Polymorph?

Unless the original poster is right, and baneful polymorph can only be used to change somebody in a tiny animal or somesuch. It would not surprise me if that would be the case, considering the arguments behind the changes in the two spells even though it was not directly stated in that article...
