    Pathfinder 1E Paizo's Pathfinder Forums

The forums over at Paizo are a custom built system, that is meant to integrate with their store. Which is why its a rather different set of forums, compared to any others. Further, there's only one or two people working on the website for Paizo, and the store takes up most of their time.

Comments and dislikes of lore and other changes in the 4th ed MM.

Entirely correct Rip, and a very good analysis of Lolth. I've certainly learnt a fair bit about her contradictions. Of course, all this makes for Lolth and the Drow to be a highly interesting and nuanced culture, something more then just monsters who live in the dark. Sadly, 4th Edition doesn't...

Why do I complain about 4E?

Firstly, I disagree with the level of compatibility. I think the Alpha documents are compatible with 3.5, just like 3.0 is compatible with 3.5. It is not a whole lot of work to convert. Really isn't. Secondly, they've only released the Alpha versions of the Pathfinder rules. At least give the...

Why do I complain about 4E?

Agreed Vagabundo. I've been looking to get the Monster Manuals off E-bay for cheap. Eric Noah said that there's never been a better time not to switch, iirc, and I think that's a very true statement. I've enough 3.5 material to last me for quite some time, and companies are going to keep making...

Why do I complain about 4E?

Firstly, if you are going to spend a whole lot of money on printing new rulebooks, why not spend some time fixing the acknowledged errors, flaws and bugs in the 3.5 Ruleset. The most glaring example would be something like the Grapple rules. Would it be wise for a small company like Paizo to put...

Why do I complain about 4E?

Because 3.5 is going out of print? Because it's hard to sell a set of adventures to stores when the ruleset for those adventures is no longer available outside of second hand stores and E-bay? Not to mention the poor PR of saying 'To use this product, you need to first go through Ebay and find...

John Rogers writes for Manual of the Planes

Agreed Mourn. Which is why Rogers is perfect for writing fluff for 4.0. ;)

    Redesigning the D&D website

I agree, very impressive. How long and how much do you think it would cost to redesign the DnD website to that standard? A rough guess, obviously!

Looking For Games Shops In UK & Ireland

Archeron Games 10 Anlaby Road Hull HU1 2PA Tel: 01482 221011 Nice little place. They saved Ptolus for me even though someone else offered £20 more then me. So they rock.

Profecy of Priestess new blog entry

And I thought sticking too powerful monsters on PC's was a bad thing. Something only matched by the use of Deus Ex Machinas.

    Rodney Thompson: Non-Combat Encounters

Despite being one of the 4th Edition 'Haters', I quite like this way of using skill checks. I liked it in 3rd edition too! I'm surprised that people use it, to be honest. I mean, if a player asked me if they could use x skill in y situation to achieve z, then I'd usually say yes they could...

    D&DExp Character Sheets!

Hmm. The Paladin is just listed as 'Good'. And seems to be worshipping Tymora. So, is Tymora a core deity now? And one willing to sponsor Paladins. Interesting.

Planned novels to bridge the edition leap?

Chances of there not being anymore Drizzt novels are roughly nil. WoTC like that money too much. The latest series of novels are infact called 'Transitions', so whether or not they will fill in the gap between the current year (1375 DR) and the new edition (1479 DR) remains to be seen. At least...

Can the elements work "officially" in these settings?

Firearms were originally intended to be in the 3rd Edition FRCS, but got removed. Todd Lockwood even did some art for them. Firearms Skyships also exist in the Realms. They come from Halruaa, and are described in both Magic of Faerún and the Shining South. They are described as sailing ships...

Are you excited about the Forgotten Realms setting changes?

When did I say that? I have no preference for them killing the setting, nor did I indicate such. What I meant was that I have enough for my current campaign, and that if others enjoy the changes, then that's fine. I just won't be buying into it. If it fails, it fails. It would be sad, but I...

Are you excited about the Forgotten Realms setting changes?

I see you missed my point, which was this. Why are people who have looked at the changes and said that they like the new direction the Realms are going then accusing those who have looked at exactly the same information and said they don't like it of jumping the gun? Surely if there is enough...

Are you excited about the Forgotten Realms setting changes?

I don't recall WoTC or TSR forcing you to play in the Realms. However, many people did. Enough for it to be the one old campaign kept when 3rd Edition came out, and for it to be the first campaign out when 4th comes round. I don't believe the Realms needed such a drastic change to be a success...

Are you excited about the Forgotten Realms setting changes?

If this risk succeeds, then WoTC just saved me a whole lot of money, as I won't be purchasing another Realms product. This makes me sad, as I like the Realms and like supporting the Realms by buying the products, but I won't spend money on what I consider to be a useless and substandard product...

Are you excited about the Forgotten Realms setting changes?

Since when were internet polls accurate? Besides, you can go stick this poll on Candlekeep and the WoTC FR Boards and get pretty much a 90% response of disliking the changes. *shrug* Of course the FRCG is going to sell well. You'll have those people who's interest in the realms has been gotten...

FR Update at WotC-Year of the Ageless One

Don't ask me! I'd have preferred that WoTC treat the book with some respect and commissioned lots of fresh art for it, especially as it was intended to 'wrap up' all the previous Realms histories into one book.
