D&D 4E Rich Baker on 4e Realms changes

*raises hand* I'm Uzzy, and I'm a Realmsfan as of 2004. All WOTC wanted from the Realms could have been achieved with a change in presentation. Show smaller stories. Less RSE's that keep changing the playing field. Better Campaign Setting book (though, the 3rd Edition one is brilliant). Novels...

What should WOTC do about Golden Wyvern Adept? (Keep Friendly)

That is your assumption only, Cadfan. The theory is a good one, but until a WoTC designer says things to that effect, that's all it is. A theory.

What should WOTC do about Golden Wyvern Adept? (Keep Friendly)

What's so wrong with just calling the feat 'Shape Spell (Golden Wyvern Adept)'? Everyone gets what they want then. A generic feat name for homebrewers and a fluffy name for the inbuilt campaign setting. It's even easy to convert for campaign settings. You could have a list in the campaign...

Westeros and Iron Heroes - Ideas?

Double ouch. Even with the dollar being so week against the pound, that's still a lot of cash for it. It may be a really good product, but that's still a lot. Might just be best to stick to doing it myself.

Westeros and Iron Heroes - Ideas?

$50? Ouch. That's a fair bit.. even if I could find one. And I've got that Dragon Magazine, Frukathka, but thanks for the link.

Westeros and Iron Heroes - Ideas?

Yeah, I was thinking that Valyrian Steel Blades would be special cases. I was going to have any blades of that nature ignore damage resistance, along with other bonuses. I'll have to get Iron Heroes first before deciding on that though! This game that's already out there does sound...

Westeros and Iron Heroes - Ideas?

Hello everyone. I've recently read the Song and Ice of Fire books, by George R R Martin. Devoured them all in about two months, they were that good. Anyway, I think they would make a pretty good setting for a campaign, and I've a feeling that others have as well. My first idea was to use the...

What I don't get RE: FR and High Level NPC's

I agree Olgar, to an extent. It's those RSE Novels that damage the Realms. Other novels like Songs and Swords, Sembia series, the Knights of Myth Drannor add immensely to the Realms, but are small scale enough to be ignored by DM's, or mined for inspiration. Print more novels that don't impact...

What I don't get RE: FR and High Level NPC's

I agree entirely. DM's are even given advice not to use the NPC's like that in the FRCS, in both the Concerns of the Mighty and Make PC's the Stars sections. It's poor DMing, pure and simple, and could occur in Eberron, Dragonlance, Greyhawk or any custom world. Yet somehow the Realms got this...

Another Chris Perkins Interview - 4th Edition Realms

Plenty of reinventions kill the franchise, or at best split the player base. Say what you will for us 'grognards', but we would be the ones 1) Advertising the game via Word of Mouth, which is much more powerful then some interviews that tell us nothing, 2) Doing fanbased work for the Realms...

Another Chris Perkins Interview - 4th Edition Realms

My own summarization of the podcast. They have a plan to reveal information in both Dragon and Gamer Radio Zero, but they don't want to reveal the information now to avoid spoiling some of the secrets of upcoming novels. Rest of the key points coming up asap. Overarching Goal for The Realms...

Just got the WotC 2008 Summer Catalog

Are you sure that Bruce Cordell's name comes before Ed's in the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide? Also.. More Drizzt? FFS. How many different ways do WoTC have to package that guy.

    D&D 4E A Change I'd Like to see in 4E Campaign Guides

The Campaign Setting book should cover as much as possible, and give a general overview of the setting. One should be able to play a game that covers the entire setting with that one book. Frankly, that should be the only book needed by a DM to run a game covering the entire setting. I'd also...

    The Mortal God

I've always thought of god stats as a waste of paper. I personally don't see any need for them, even if I did run a god killing quest. The last thing I'd look at in that situation would be the stats. I would aim for a special sequence of events, maybe help from other gods, giving them weapons...

    Torm vs. Tyr

As was pointed out to you over on the WoTC boards, there are a fair few differences between the Norse Tyr and the Realmsian Tyr. However, I am not denying that the inspiration for such gods is taken from other places. I am also not putting forward the argument that that is what makes the Realms...

    Torm vs. Tyr

Shame that's a false belief then, isn't it?
