    Concerning buying D&D 4th Edition

I've never done anything but play Magic: the Gathering in a FLGS.

    Paladins and alignment

Because I don't feel like making prestige classes (or buying them) for every god. Because people like the "holy warrior" concept, especially since there's a focus on clerics being a bit more like ranged/cloth casters in 4E. This is a good change, for reasons other posters have already pointed...

Doesn't opening up new credit card accounts mess with your credit?

It is an excellent piece of art. Nice name, BTW.

Which race WILL you be playing?

From a purely mechanical stand point: human. I mean, an extra At-Will power? Who doesn't like options?!

    D&D 4E 4E respawning?

Should resurrection have a cost? Your PCs never lose a limb or an eye from combat, or if they do, it can simply be Regenerate'd. If you apply a penalty to resurrection it becomes better, mechanically, for the player to simply roll up a new character. I suppose some DMs force players to roll...

    D&D 4E 4E respawning?

A good post. I probably won't be playing in the epic-tier since I prefer 'grittier' (ideally without Raise Dead, Teleport, etc.) games... but given the proclivity of death and resurrection in high level D&D, I think they should embrace it. Not to mention they're going for "all fights are...

Minions are alien visitors from another kind of game

That's pretty awesome. Are they still bored if they are in real danger of being killed by these red shirts? I should hope not. That's one thing I like about minions, they're low HP creatures with high (relatively-speaking) damage. One less thing I have to hand-wave, and I think it's good 4E...

    Preorder, cancel, preorder, cancel etc

I don't know. I do know I love saving something like $55 by buying from Amazon as opposed to from B&M stores. I have never used a B&M store for anything other than Magic: the Gathering.

Minions are alien visitors from another kind of game

Alternately, some orcs are easier to kill than others. I don't see how that breaks suspension of disbelief for anyone, really. Would you describe a 1 HP fighter in 1st edition as dying from a dagger prick? You could, but that would be really, really dumb, IMO. No, the 1 HP fighter got his...

Intimidate, or "whoops I wasted my skill points"

I'd largely use Diplomacy as 'Persuasion.' I can understand desiring a skill to make your character more likeable... but really, I think that can be done with roleplay, most of the time, and when it comes time to ask for a favor, it's time for 'Persuasion' (with a situational modifier, perhaps)...

Intimidate, or "whoops I wasted my skill points"

Diplomacy may be superior to Intimidate, but unless your DM allows multiple characters to make the same roll (or allows 'assistance'), then you might as well take Intimidate to round out your options if someone else already has Diplomacy. Some characters you won't deal with again, sometimes you...

    Excerpt: skill challenges

Interesting. I like what I see... it's not particularly complex (i.e. there's not a lot of mechanics behind it), but it's a useful reminder to DMs about how to make things more interesting. I did really like the use of "history" in Escape from Sembia? to find out whether or not there are...

    D&D 4E Piracy and 4e

That probably has an impact, but that's not the cause. NASCAR is established and ultimately has a large fan base, whereas each sci-fi show will only appeal to a portion of the 'sci-fi television geek' and probably has crappy exposure. So I really don't think that's the reason. I'm sure piracy...

D&D 4E Character conversion problems for 4e (Short Essay)

What he said. There are better systems than D&D for non-combat type games... D&D has traditionally been weak in non-combat areas. If a player wanted a pacifist, I'd tell him, "You're going to be bored when everyone else is fighting," and it would be true, couple this with the fact that fights...

D&D 4E Love It or Leave It: 4E Multiclassing

I like it, I would however like other options to exist, since I feel that feats at 1/every 2 levels is still fairly limiting. I wonder how broken it would be to allow each character to select one non-class power (and they can re-train it later, of course) for free. Probably wouldn't do that...

Re-opening an old can: Warlocks and Angels

Personally I'd go with: being a warlock requires some degree of arcane training, you just get "more bang for your buck."
