    Eh, nevermind.

I'm in the camp of the Holy Sole Reply. Anyone who sides with the original poster will be declared 'lacking a sense of humor.'

    Dark Sun, 4th Edition

I like Dark Sun, a lot. I could do without the Psionics, however... I might buy a reprint, but I've still got all the campaign information... so quite possibly not. So, "maybe."

    Joy. It's the Buddy's Girlfriend.

There's been some good advice in this thread, though my initial response was: If she isn't interested in playing, maybe you should reconsider. An excellent response. Though you, the OP, mentioned you already approached her about what she wants to play... is she shy? Is she perhaps already...

    Dispel Magic

I could be wrong. Regardless, I don't think there will be a conflict between utility and damage-type powers.

    Dispel Magic

Since everyone can learn rituals... I'm pretty sure utility and combat powers are seperate. I like the new Dispel, though Abjure might've been a better name.

D&D 4E Will Rule Zero be in 4E?

The thing I hate about BW life paths is that some choices are clearly better than others. It wasn't designed for balance... admittedly, you can always just choose the better life paths, but that can clash with your character image. I'm also not sure how I feel about the noble life paths just...

    Baker blog paladin and dragonborn

Me too? Though I'd prefer more lizardman than "katana-wielding lightning-breather"... though if the breath weapons pop up in the paragon tier [as opposed to heroic], that'll make me happy.

    Bonuses for being Elite/Solo

Because adding class levels and templates to creatures is so much better than having standardized rules to make them [albeit generically] tougher?

What books describe a good magical world?

Well done, particularly with the former. Though, as an aside, I think those are more interesting if resurrection is rarer than D&D commonly assumes.

What Kind of Druids Do You Like?

This, except for the last part. I think a druid as a shifter would be the most non-overlapping. Really, a nature priest can simply be a cleric. (Though it would certainly help to have a few nature-oriented powers to reinforce that theme.)

What books describe a good magical world?

Agreeing with kennew... Heroic deaths are sexy, but yes, you kinda have to stay dead. I do like how they're dealing with death in 4E, i.e. effectively getting rid of it in the heroic tier, and embracing it in the epic tier. Finally, I love book threads. Going to have check out the Book of the...

What books describe a good magical world?

I have read Altered Carbon (and the next novel in the setting, Broken Angels) but it's been a while: how did they make death feel intimidating in AC? I recall that you lost the knowledge between one upload and the next, so death could certainly be a set back. Though I don't see how this is...

    WotC_Dave: Druid!

Indeed. If the druid's just casting spells, it seems like he could be modeled as a cleric of nature... just call'em a druid for flavor.

    WotC_Dave: Color Power!

Being pedantic, because spelling is important to me!

    Rodney Thompson: Non-Combat Encounters

Indeed, and it's clever/cool enough that I'd probably have it just pop into existence. A DM who did otherwise wouldn't necessarily be doing the wrong thing, of course.

Design & Development: Warlord Article UP!

I'd totally play something that let me use "White Star Raven" powers. Of course, the setting better involve space, and a ridiculous helping of anime or pulp sci-fi. So I probably wouldn't play in that setting... but if I did, White Star Raven is too awesomely retarded to pass up. (I've come...

    Long-Term Injury Fun?

I do think the 4E HP model works better for me and I think it has its design merits, but I'd never use "it's more believable/realistic/whatever" as a selling point for 4E. And I agree with the rest of your post.

    Long-Term Injury Fun?

I realized as I typed my reply that I was probably unnecessarily taking offense and that we did agree. But I'd typed it, so oh well. Ultimately, I suppose my point is: if 4E is glitched, so was 3E, preferring one over the other doesn't make one a dumb butt.

    Long-Term Injury Fun?

Jeff, can you ever stop beating this dead horse? Inconsistencies in the old system: High level fighter taking twenty times the number of blows as a low level wizard, or whatever you want. If part of it is skill/lesser wounds: magical healing. Why does a scratch at higher levels (since 8 HP...

    Long-Term Injury Fun?

I agree (I hate high level magic), and while you may not be addressing me in the slightest: I think adding some attrition adds a, "What are we willing to risk to succeed?" element to the game, similar to E6's Death Flag (which I heartily enjoy.) And I do think there's an element of style to the...
