    Long-Term Injury Fun?

I enjoyed the previous Minor/Medium/Major wound, but: This strikes me as really nice, primarily because it's simple. I'd personally go one step further and say: "After damage is calculated, you may take half damage, but at the cost of -2 to saves/to-hit/skills. This heals after one week."...

    D&D 4E 4e Monster List - Dwarven Nosepicker & Elven Butt Scratcher

Well, this MM will have over 500 monsters, so some overlap doesn't bother me. Not to mention I, personally, prefer avoiding "Monster-of-the-Week" (or also "Look at what whacky monster alliance you're encountering this time!") type gameplay, so keeping goblins/kobolds/whatever interesting suits...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

All you've shown is that having less hit points means there are more ways for the character to die. I don't think anyone would disagree with that, and really, it's an argument ignoring the context in which "impairment" was used. Y'know, like why is my almost dead fighter still able to perform...

Should the DMG be the cheapest core book?

I'd call them the same. :p I'm still curious about the Paths (if any) the DMG will contain, but I suspect it'd be prudent for me to pass on it.

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

Yeah, that was pretty awesome. First response was better, but oh well. =)

Should the DMG be the cheapest core book?

My opinion is: Should I even buy the DMG? What is it offering me in the way of mechanics? Possibly Paragon/Epic Paths, and Traps? Is that all? Is that really worth it? I feel like I'd be better off buying one of the good splat books. I really like that they put in the "PC stats" for...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

Agreed, absolutely. I think it'd be entirely appropriate to say Boromir went into a "rage" (as per D&D barbarian), and really, the first center-of-the-torso arrow meant he was a goner. It would have to be an extraordinary circumstance (or very high level play) for me to describe a PC as...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

I agree it's partially due to wounds, but they're superficial. Ultimately both "camps" of hit points have their flaws: a swordsman capable of suffering more wounds as he levels up doesn't work for me, at least not at the rate D&D represents hit points. Capable of fighting with no wound...

Points of Light - Help me make sense ?

Good point. 'sides, I always played characters who had some degree of experience/training. Military academy? What the heck is that? You've been in a war or two, or helped hunt/defend the town against marauders/beasts etc. You have practical experience, none of this fancy schmancy training...

    D&D 4E 4e Healing - Is This Right?

Because HP loss doesn't model wounds which impair your fighting efficiency? It's abstract, and as long as you're willing to accept HP as a combination of fatigue, morale and actual wounds, it works. Yes, you have the falling example which is the most grevious offender in this system, IMO, and...

D&D 4E I wish we had Magic artists for 4e.

That's some amazing art, I really like Beseech the Queen. M:tG does have some really nice art at times. Makes me wish the PHB cover was nearly as nice... the only good "core" cover art is the DMG.

D&D 4E 4E: The day the game ate the roleplayer?

Understandable, but really, a 1st level PC in 4E is more akin to a 3rd level PC in 3E. Your first level wizard is more "adept" rather than "apprentice." This has its downsides, but does fit with 4E's "heroic!" theme.

If gnomes had the eladrin's powers would that make them more appealing?

Gnomes are lame. Maybe if you made them mysterious, wizened, secretive and just a little scary... I could (personally) see playing one. But friendly, mischevious 3' human? Aside from sounding a lot like halflings (to me anyways)... color me uninterested.

Trip is an Encounter Power now

Can you still move and attack in the same round anymore? I swear I read, at some point, you can only move or attack... which would make sense since iterative attacks no longer exist. If that is true (and I want to say it's not, but whatever), I can easily see trips your martial types locking...

Trip is an Encounter Power now

I can see it being tough to trip someone when a fight with armor, swords and spears are involved. Nor have I ever seen a movie where there's repeated trips on one side or the other. Indeed, I can imagine a fight right now, where one otherwise competent opponent is repeatedly tripped... you...

If they weren't in the phb...

I voted "yes" to all the above, since I prefer the lot of them (except that Tieflings look dumb, though I like their background) over halflings, gnomes or half-elves.

    Gritty gone?

I like this... reminds me of the Eldar Warp Spiders from WH40K (only played the computer game, but loved the crazy flavor of the universe.)
