YAPT - Yet Another Polymorph Thread

Yes it does. Would be a funny vampire movie... OMG he turned into a bat (shotgun blast) well that was easier than I thought. I would guess his 0 hp gasious form would kick in when slain in that form. It's DM fiat. Most that I have seen lean to the side of caution. Forms don't get items...

    Arcane Trickster--Specialist Wiz or Generalist?

Having a high Charisma is only worth a few skill points. Most of the Charisma rogues skills come from skill points. You will be able to outpace the sorcerer's +5 simply because most are cross class and he only has 2 per level. Even if you are at 8 cha, you can easily have the social skills to...

    Balancing Influx of Clerical Spells?

Once again I eat my words. I recalled the suggestion in the second sentence and blanked on the first sentence.

    Arcane Trickster--Specialist Wiz or Generalist?

Does anyone have suggestions for alternate spellcasters for arcane trixter? Obviously it's arcane based, so that rules out the divine casters. Within arcane you have the choice of Int based or Cha based. Int has obvious advantages for a rogue, there are Cha skills, but personally I'd rather...

    Arcane Spell Research

The level portion is up to the DM, I would use the addition of metamagic as a basis for the mass grease. Mass chain lighning is an example of that where there is not an additional +1 as nittanytbone suggested for fourth level. You can also compare to effectiveness of similar level spells. In...

    Alignment as a feat

I think it would be fine to have the alignment make all attacks as aligned attacks. There are limited numbers of times it would make a difference. I would also agree to a +2 to diplomacy type skills. There are also the drawbacks, detection and more strict code of conduct. That seems balanced...

    Ghaele Eladrin

After some further review I would guess LA - is that it is not a playble race. Cure light, greater invis and wall of force at will and casting as a 14th level cleric, would place it at least ECL 24 in my opinion. Even then I would limit at will to 5x per day.

    Ghaele Eladrin

If LA - is the same as LA 0, then the ECL would be 10 for the HD. The OP is correct the light ray does not give details. Note will-o-whisp also have a light ray that seems the same except the damage done. I recall I had some critical issue with it, perhaps against undead or even vampires...

    Persistent Spell - Abuse?

That's what I was thinking, Thanee. If you are doing house rules. From round per level to min per level +2, to 10 min per level +4, to hour per level +6. By the time you have 7th level slots, the round per level spell will last most of your waking day. Unfortunatly my group prefers to stick...

    Crit with Harm?

If not all undead, most undead are immune to crits, so you still can't crit someone immune to crits. Vorpal effects and Vampires are an exception that would be the first place to find a loophole that contradicts this. I think you still wind up with the crit confirmation takes place but has no...

Crazy spell chain for evil villian

Polymorph any object could do it within the RAW. There could be duration issues, but that's not important for this, as the intention is to turn them back to flesh anyway. I believe a wish or miracle would be required to undo it. As for the brick - fake statue. Clever Idea, but it would take...

    Tower Shield

It would be fine if only they clarified what was 'optional' rules. They clarified that he added the standard action, but then neglected to point out that the facing rules were also added. The effect on targeting and attacks of opportunity does seem to be RAW. There are a lot of DM's who can't...

    New Cleric Help Needed

I've never been a fan of turn undead, if it's half your HD you can kick it's but with a mace without breaking a sweat. Except for incorporal undead which have low HD for thier encounter level. That said, I wouldn't wory about PrC's that detract from turning, or Divine metamagic if it's...

How far can a Human see in Starlight?

I'll have to check the print versions tonight, but unless it's different from the SRD text quoted in post 11, I disagree with your interpretation of what is printed. Being able to see twice as far away from a lightsource is different than being able to see twice as far in a persistant lighting...

How far can a Human see in Starlight?

The DC to spot an army would be pretty low. I can't find where this is listed in SRD, it might be in the printed PB or DMG. I dont' know if DC's can drop into the negatives. There would also be conditional modifiers (like a cloud of dust given proper conditions) that would counter the...

    Best race for sorcerer?

I like the concept of halfling sorcerer with riding dog to compensate for movement and carrying capacity. You can put some ranks into ride so you can make the ride check to replace your mount's AC. A race I would look into is from Races of Stone, shadow gnome maybe? I don't have the book, but...

    Best race for sorcerer?

Sorry, I didn't read your question close enough. I was sure it wouldn't be a desirable regardless. oh well.
