I'm actually glad it's over because I spent most of the last two seasons watching out of duty (sunk cost fallacy) instead of for pleasure.
My partner and I watched it... she and I both concluded "that was ok". It's possible that it wouldn't have quite reached "ok" level for me without the nudity, frankly.
We'll keep watching, I'm sure. I mean, we're paying for it, it's the last season, etc. But... it's ok.
I've seen the first three, which had enough interesting stuff to keep me going.
(Yes, sometimes cheesy and melodramatic, but I don't mind that in "background" television viewing, as opposed to my "active" viewing.)
Here's why the filmmaker is being cagey, as near as I can tell:
In order to actually produce a true "Dark Dungeons" movie — something that gamers around the world have heard of — he had to get Jack Chick's permission. Yes, he could do a true parody, but then he'd be opening himself to lawsuit...
Is that your concern about it being a serious-seeming film, that the very small number of people who believe this now will have their beliefs reinforced?
Though I've not seen the film, the trailer makes me feel certain that the only people who will see this as an actual condemnation of RPGs is those who already believe it.
I'm suggesting no such thing, of course. Just that "oversentimental" and "overwrought" might not be the right words for the circumstance.
(Separately, I'm perfectly glad for them to tackle such things in a movie called "Interstellar", just like I was enjoyed Jodie Foster's character struggle...
FWIW I was fine with the ham-handed messages, and frankly Matt Damon was the reason I ended up watching it (so some South African rapper or Eminem would have lost me as a customer).
