    D&D Encounters - Season 2

I ran the adventure last night as well. (you can follow me on twitter OngoingDamage (OnGoingDamage) on Twitter I'm going to try and post more during the weekly sessions). I'm a HUGE Dark Sun fan from 2nd. I played up the set-up and backstory for the adventure a bit. I tried to play up the ill...

    DMing with a laptop

I've enjoyed using Familiar, it's a good combat tracker. Home (Familiar)

Dark Sun Hopes & Dreams & Fears & Nightmares

Is adding Primodials, and a dark sun version of the feywild any different, or more blasphemous to the setting, than the REVISED box set that came out? Or more "trashing the setting" than the line of novels did? By my count, the "setting" that everyone clings to as this holy magical place was...

New clause in iPhone 4.0 makes some iPhone RPG apps illegal?

This means iphone OS API's. It means that you can't comb through iPhone OS byte code, find an undocumented API and then start using it. The idea also is that you don't have an app that then calls stuff from another app. iplay4e.com is just a website. Building an app to look at a website is...

    Whatever happened to Necromancer Games?

There are a couple of different ways they could have handled the figures for the loss in their investment. However, its most assuredly gone from their balance sheet, especially with DDI bringing money in. Most likely they just declared it as bad debt and have spread it out over a period of years...

24 Million Lapsed D&D Players - Define "Lapsed"

I can only know from my own experience, but yes, yes they would. I started playing D&D with the D&D rules cyclopedia, and then moved to 2E and stopped playing around 1995 or so. I then became a lapsed player. I played in one game of 3.0 when it came out and someone I knew ran it, but it was only...

Hobby Games Sales up 5-10%... but not RPGs

I too was shocked at the number of people playing Magic at PAXeast. I guess it was a big help that WotC put a free play deck in the general swag bag handed out to everyone, but I saw a lot of people with their own deck boxes/collections playing.

    D&D Zombie Holocaust-type adventures

And another thing! I'd also recommend "Death Frost Doom". Not your typical adventure, and probably not exactly what you are looking for, but it is a great adventure.

    D&D Zombie Holocaust-type adventures

I just wanted to second this suggestion. This was a really well done adventure, and really highlights how to do a skill challenge in a combat encounter and make it meaningful. I'm a big fan of the adventure.

    DDI and IPAD

As a player or as a DM? Player: character sheet, e-book reader, Pages app for games notes. DM: Compendium access, e-book reader, PDFs of maps, combat tracker. Throw something like the "familiar" app or "dungeon manager" trackers on it, and it's beautiful.

Dark Sun Preview at Pax East

My group made a bunch of Spartacus: Blood and Sand jokes during the game as well. I came with a group of 4 (including me), so I felt sorry for the DM and the other player for having to deal with our shenanigans.

Dark Sun Preview at Pax East

It was the same mod that was run at DDXP. I got a chance to play it at PAX on friday night. It was pretty fun. We only had 5 people through it, but four of us had played together, so we ran pretty fast. It did leave me completely pumped for Dark Sun however, I can't wait. Also, Tycho mentioned...

From Gencon Events - "All D&D games at Gen Con being placed with RPGA"

Monte Cook twitter about this today and said it was cool, so I guess he is on their so-called "uncool" evil plot as well. Also, at the WotC "Save My Game" panel at PAX East yesterday, they answered questions from 3.5 as well as 4E questions. How evil!

    WotC Presence at Conventions

I was at PAX as well, and I had a great time with the D&D events offered. Just to explain a few things, the event was really crowded and VERY well attended. I arrived about an hour before the keynot on friday and the main theater was already full, so I missed out on that. The WotC booth in the...

WotC and brick and mortar retail stores - Greg Leeds weighs in

Also the Renown awards cited by the "unnamed retailer" encourage players to use new options presented in the PHB3... which encourages players to buy the book... which the "unnamed retailer" is crying that people aren't. I mean, let's go with the given situation. Someone who only has PHB1, makes...

Did anyone get a chance to check out D&D Encounters?

Just to let you know, WotC are breaking their own rule then, as they will be running Encounters #1 and #2 at PAX East next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Oooooh Noes!

    Crash Course in 4th ed.

I think one thing to remember here is that you'll be running the D&D Encounters program. From what I've heard it is basically a "one encounter" a session thing with an estimated 1 hour play experience. A quick fix of D&D. For those of us who can't add in a four hour Living FR game but still...

D&D with "alt film" stars: the WotC interview

This is actually the second time on the WotC site that Death Frost Doom has been mentioned. It was talked about in the podcast just before the holidays in their "What to buy for gamers" podcast. They mentioned how great the adventure was. I went and bought the PDF of it just because of it. This...

    The Truth About 4th Edition.

You do realize that there was a WoW setting for 3.5 Amazon.com: World Of Warcraft The Roleplaying Game (d20 3.5) (9781588467812): Rob Baxter: Books So if anything, I think 3.5 was more WoWish, since you know, there is a WoW setting for it and all...

    This mentality needs to die

IF you got to the youtube channel, they have the first couple of episodes up with DM commentary. I think watching those and listening to Chris talk about the game and the playing circumstances really sheds a lot of light on the game, and some of the issues brought up in this thread. First, he...
