Aspects of D&D that have made you fed up?

Yeah, I'm with you on the economics. Just because it's in the book, doesn't mean somebody has one or that there's one kicking around the campaign world anywhere. Even if someone has one or one is available somewhere, you have to find out who that someone is or where that somewhere is before...

Aspects of D&D that have made you fed up?

I'm fed up that I can't give Dannyalcatraz any more XP yet.

Death by Infelicitas - Is it acceptable?

You're forgetting a common Horror Movie Trope: Black Dude Dies First.

Death Spiral vs Starting at 1st Level - X-post from 'Death by Infelicitas'

S'mon, you and Tuft seem to be using quite a different definition of Death Spiral than the common one. When I hear or read "death spiral" I expect: combat system where getting hit makes it harder for you to fight and easier for the other guys to hit you.

    BESM (d20 or Tri-stat)

Sword of Spirit, I wouldn't say "hated" so much as I'd say "doesn't quite live up to expectations". What I do personally hate are the BESM d20 classes themselves. Especially because some of them should be represented by other things such as race or attributes.

    Elven childhood

As a joke, and I don't know what edition I'm talking about, I said something like "115 years in diapers".

    What is an elegant system?

ComradeGnull, no no no, the servants rolls the dice and either move the miniatures around or act in their place. You and your high society friends take care of the imagination bit. ;-)

    BESM (d20 or Tri-stat)

Guardians of Order went under while they were working on BESM 3E. I think White Wolf (or one of their imprints) was who actually released it. What that tells me is that it was popular enough that people wanted to see the 3rd edition even if the original company had gone belly up.

    BESM (d20 or Tri-stat)

I logged in today just to give my answer on this topic. Tri-Stat, definitely Tri-Stat. While BESM d20 does have some nice ways to jury-rig BESM into D&D, some of it just doesn't work as I'm learning while putting together a D&D game with a pinch of BESM d20 (CP values, Attributes, Defects, and...

I'm Sick Of...(D&D tropes that you can do without)

Maybe wizards are hypochondriacs. They wear robes because they take lots of baths. Whenever you need a wizard, he or she always just got out of the tub. I posted something similar on my facebook page. The pointy hat must be the shower cap.

I'm Sick Of...(D&D tropes that you can do without)

I've said it before, though I'm not so sure whether it's an assumption of the game or an assumption of the players (though some artwork leads toward players): Class X always wears Y type of clothing. Look, I know the robed wizard was popularized a long time ago, but the problem is going out...

Is "you can, but at a penatly" the same as "you can't?"

No, you can't means there's no way to do it for whatever reason. "You can, but with a penalty" means yes, you can do it and it's going to be somewhat more difficult for whatever reason.

    Words are hard!

I don't take players, DMs, or the race seriously if I hear "dro". With you here, silent letters that don't distinguish one word from another are a waste of space. For that matter, if you do need a silent letter for that purpose, think of another way of spelling that word. Comb to coum perhaps...

    Killer DMs

I don't consider myself a killer GM, but the dice and my "let them fall where they may" attitude may make people think that of me. In one adventure trilogy I have, in the first installment there is a set of not entirely contradictory expectations. There is a battle where the villains will try...

Kickstarter: New Fire the Aztec inspired RPG

On my Facebook page, I got a note about this new game from a gaming convention group. According to my web research, it's already been mentioned, and perhaps talked about at Paizo's boards. New Fire, the Aztec-inspired RPG by Jason Caminsky — Kickstarter I think this an interesting...

The Quality of Gaming Products Today

This is a bit old as Planescape products started coming out in the early 90s, "perfect bound" is the most misnamed binding type ever. Out of all my RPG products, what kind of binding falls apart first? That's right, "perfect" bound.

First time at Gen Con - Need some tips

It's not your grandmother whose rule we're trying to meet it's Eric Noah's. That's one cool grandma you have there though. Showering: At least once a day, after swimming, and after anything that makes you sweaty.

Question: How do you rationalize opportunity attacks?

The short, sweet version that I know I posted on another topic: If your opponent takes his attention away from you, and you care, you may make a free melee attack on him for being an idiot.

First time at Gen Con - Need some tips

I'd post a video link, but it doesn't pass the grandmother rule: lots of swearing, cartoon nudity, and suggestions of cartoon nudity. Look up "Rules for the Masses" on YouTube.
