D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

Exactly. You shouldn't. Where is the "role" in this? Where is the morality? Where is the drama or self exploration? Now u can play a genocidal paladin wiping out the evil orcs and their babies BUT surely what makes this more than a xenophobic duck hunt is that the game system shouldn't...

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

I am sure some may be saying that, but that is not tolerant not inclusive of them. What we need is a way to separate obvious genetics from culture (which includes economic factors). We need a solution that allows a table to build dwarfs that are the same as the ones you love from 5e, maybe from...

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

Actually it isn't. Do you tolerate other people's beliefs and practices where they allow for a similar level of tolerance? If not then you are not tolerant. Inclusivity is different, I am all for it. Tolerance can include separatism. Tolerance doesn't fix injustice. But it's a start.

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

I assume you can hear that contradiction yourself, right? Do you want change or don't you?

D&D General Two underlying truths: D&D heritage and inclusivity

Popper's Paradox. At the end of the day the tolerant can't tolerate the intolerant. However.. note tolerant, and all those four may be tolerant, thus co-exist.

D&D General WotC’s Official Announcement About Diversity, Races, and D&D

A culture can be evil. Not all within it need be. But surely Nazi levels of compliance and evil should suit most people?

    D&D 5E (2014) WotC's Jeremy Crawford on D&D Races Going Forward

Surely the problem is the core assumption has been in D&D that most ethnic groups have been presented as monolithic and monocultural with little or no variation. That is the problem. If folks are presented as varied and various, with a mix of people, morals and qualities; even within a strong...

Looking for a tabletop RPG to capture a certain 'grim Slavic' vibe

PEGinc Solomon Kane. The PCs are all criminals who have been executed and have been brought back and given one last chance for redemption before they are judged again. It's grim dark. However it's not Slavic. But you could take a book of Russian Fairy Tales and stat them up easily. Complete...

D&D General How Was Your Last Session?

It went well. I ran the Alchemist's Repose from Questing Beast mixed with Emerald Order from Kobold Press' Demon Cults & Secret Societies which I had setup on Roll20. It's all set in Dolmenwood from Necrotic Gnome. I use 5e D&D. Alchemist' Repose DC&SS...

D&D General The Brilliance of the Original Gygaxian Multiverse

From what I read in the 5e DMG the planes and cosmology is as you want it, they present one possible structure but reference alternatives, and explicitly say you may want to use your own. However in many ways I agree strongly. IMHO There are two tensions in the genre. Those that want...

How long does your TTRPG gaming sessions usually last?

I like 3 hours, drifting to 3.5. However some of my friends fade out at 2.5 Online it seems to need to shorter, so 2.5 for me, 2 for others. But.. at a con I can play 14 hours in 3 sessions with an hour in-between. I just need power naps every three hours really, but I am in my mid fifties so...
