    D&D 5E (2014) Player's Handbook Alpha *Spoilers*

From what I understand, there is no "Read Magic" cantrip or spell in the Alpha, and having read the Starter and Basic PDF, there wasn't a listed Read Magic spell in those, either. Does that mean they have done away with Read Magic altogether in 5E?

D&D 5E (2014) Interesting talk with Mike Mearls (a few secrets slip too!)

Skill dice were one of my favorite mechanics from the playtest. Glad to see they will be covered in DMG.

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

I found this: @VerysArkon : When does "hidden" end? As soon as a creatures moves into line-of-sight from behind cover or after the ranged attack is made? mike Mearls: As soon as the creature is fully visible or attacks - DM judgment on visibility (ex: sniper hiding behind a corner). "Fully"...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

The hiding section (page 60 of the Basic PDF) says: "In combat, most creatures stay alert for signs of danger all around, so if you come out of hiding and approach a creature, it usually sees you." If you the Lightfoot Halfling Rogue popping out from behind a medium-sized creature to shoot...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

The Halfling did not succeed on Stealth every time, but with his +7 Stealth, and the DM ruling that the he only had to beat Passive Perception of the enemies in the fight (unless they used an action to search for him), it wasn't that hard to hide. The fighter did get action surge, but only the...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

Thanks for the replies folks. That is exactly why I was asking. We are just over 25 hours of gaming with the Starter Set, and so far, the Halfling Rogue has really out-shined both of the Human Fighters in damage output. With Advantage, he has getting a lot of natural 20 roles, and with 3D6...

D&D 5E (2014) Halfling Rogue Actions During a Turn - Hiding, Advantage, and Sneak Attacks

Hi all, So in a situation where a Lightfoot Halfling was next to one of his own medium-sized party members in a room, using a Shortbow, and fighting an enemy, would the following situation be possible: Cunning Action: Using his Cunning Action to Hide behind his own medium sized party members...

    D&D 5E (2014) PH(B) Soldier Background (Art is new)

I like this pic better that some of the other interior art we have seen, but that's not saying much. This made it better.

D&D 5E (2014) Lightfoot Halfling Naturally Stealthy Trait

The description of the trait states: "Lightfoot trait: Naturally Stealthy. You can attempt to hide even when you are obscured only by a creature that is at least one size larger than you." How do you become obscured by a creature? If you were behind an enemy that was one size larger than you...

How do Skills work in 13th Age?

I probably should have clarified that I flipped through the book in my FLGS. I don't actually own it. Was trying to learn how some things worked before picking it up. Thanks.

How do Skills work in 13th Age?

Title really says it all. I have only had a chance to glance through the rulebook, but noticed that there wasn't a section for skills on the character sheet, so just wondering how the system handles them. Thanks.

Hi all, Are there any published 4E adventures for a DM and only one player? Thanks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiefling preview!

I'm actually a fan of the 4E Tieflings, and also really like the ones in the pic you posted. This 5E preview Tiefling to me is just really bad art. Re: the orange slice in the free drink....I don't like cilantro. If someone put too much of it in free salsa I might otherwise like, it would...

    D&D 5E (2014) Tiefling preview!

Hearing a lot of praise for the art in this edition, but so far, other than the covers, I am a bit underwhelmed. Of the PHB preview art, my favorite is the opening page of the PHB. Not a fan of the rest we have seen or the direction the art in 5E seems to be taking.

    D&D 5E (2014) It's Dwarfy McDwarferson from the Player's Handbook!

I like the architecture in the background, and it's cool they show a female dwarf with a hammer, but something about her face bothers me (and no, it's not the lack of a beard). Just not a big fan of how she looks.

    D&D 5E (2014) Starter Set adventure duration

It's probably pretty subjective. We played 16 hours over the long holiday weekend, and our DM said we were around 1/3rd of the way through the whole thing. Some of that was rules discussion, though.

D&D 5E (2014) Three cheers for Mearls and Co.!

Completely agree. Even the stuff my group was highly skeptical about before in reading the previews and rules totally made sense in actual play over the weekend. Thanks Mearls and Co.
