How easy would it be to play Nights Black Agents in a play-by-post

Nights Black Agents is awesome! I ran a playtest game for my group and it was great fun. I admit, I'm a huge fan of the Gumshoe system and NBA is a good addition to the roster. Hopefully I will get a chance to run it again soon. But, as was mentioned above, it would be easy to run as a Play by...

Nominate the third inductee into the RPG Hall of Fame!

Another I would like to see honored is Tom Moldvay. He put out a number of excellent adventures for D&D, did the first revision of the Basic D&D set, and wrote Lords of Creation. He is likely best known for X-1 The Isle of Dread adventure released with the Expert D&D set.

Let's Talk About Middle Earth Gaming

I was a huge fan of ICE's Rolemaster system. Just not for Middle Earth. Far to much magic use.

Nominate the third inductee into the RPG Hall of Fame!

Erick Wujcik, a great guy who wrote the Amber Diceless RPG and was involved with Palladium games. The Amber Diceless system was a wonderful experiment in game design and play. While running it, I learned more about GMing than any other system.

Let's Talk About Middle Earth Gaming

I would never try a Middle Earth game using D&D. I have tried using Hero and GURPS. I hated the mechanics of MERP but loved the supplemental books for the richness of the text and the awesome art. A few years back Decipher put out a Lord of the Rings game that was actually pretty good. The...

Let's Talk About Middle Earth Gaming

Middle Earth is one of my favorite settings. I have run games in it using every system published for it and some that I adapted for such use. I have to say that The One Ring is my favorite system published for ME gaming. It is a very light system that allows emulation of the source quite well...

Tell Me About the FATE System

Spirit of the Century was the first game using FATE 3. While Strands of FATE is related to FATE 3, it changes a significant amount. Closer to Spirit of the Century is Bulldogs! which was a Kickstarter project a while ago. Diaspora is another SciFi FATE game. Awesome Adventures is a...

    Space 1889

The problem with combat is that it can eat up so much of our limited gaming time. We only have four or five hours a week to game so I would like to keep combat to a minimum. That said, I welcome combat that advances the story and is interesting. I have fond memories of my PCs battling their way...

    Space 1889

I love Space: 1889 and have run it several times. I actually like the system - it is quirky but it actually works as it encourages the players to avoid combat. :) But I'm likely to use Spirit of the Century next time I want to run Space: 1889. The FATE system should be able to handle it.

    Avenger with a reach weapon

I admit this isn't an optimized character. I tend to play odd characters and still find ways for them to work. I do think I'm going to give up on the greatspear though and stick with a longspear. Using rolled ability scores, this is what he looks like at 5th level: ====== Created Using Wizards...

    Avenger with a reach weapon

Yeah, I was relatively certain that was the case. I have in mind an elven avenger of Sehanine who uses a greatspear. I can still do this, I just won't be using the reach property of the spear often. I know I could use a greatsword and get the same modifiers without spending a feat, but this...

    Avenger with a reach weapon

If an avenger is using a reach weapon and attacks his target does he still benefit from the Oath of Enmity? Or would he still need to have the target adjacent to him?

Technique Feats, Style Feats, Arena Feats, oh my

Martial Power 2 is being released next year. This is a playtest release, not a preview. They want player feedback on these feats so they can correct any issues with them before the mechanics are set.

    How do Iron Armbands work?

Well, I didn't have trouble logging in yesterday or just now. Regarding the Iron Armbands, as far as I know they add to the damage roll of any power with the Weapon keyword. So they should be adding to the Close Burst powers but not to fixed damage targets such as Cleave or Reaping Blow. Edit...

Make sure you uninstall the Beta version before installing the full version. If you tried installing over the Beta version, uninstall the full version and the Beta version, then install the full version.

    Practiced Dilettante

I can see high-strength half-elves getting good use out of this feat and righteous brand. But in those cases, is it really more powerful than their classes' at-wills. I guess for fighters it could be in some situations. I'm going to allow it for now. If it ends up being overpowered, my players...

    Practiced Dilettante

I'm thinking about introducing a paragon feat for half-elves into my game. Practiced Dilettante Prerequisites: half-elf, 11th level Benefit: Your dilettante encounter power becomes an at-will power for you. Would this be over powered?

Anchorage, AK - Looking for players

I am running a 4th edition D&D game on Saturday nights but am down to three players. I am looking for one or two new players and would love a secondary DM as I could use a break once in a while.

    Space RPGs?

My favorite space game is Space 1889. Victorian era ether flyers reach Mars and Venus. Interplanetary role-playing in a more civilized time.
