    Rich Baker Blog on Monsters

That's not true. Everyone knows that chaotic beings are the ones that think more about themselves, while lawful ones seek the greater common good. Unlike evil characters, most good ones see good as something more important than law/chaos. Elandrins would side with Archons against Devils, but...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

What?????????????? You mean that, if my wizard has 6 Constitution score: -2 penalty, he has no phisical part in his hit points?? He has no body, then? Further, he has -2 penalty... he has a negative body? It's not about the nature of Hit Points. It's about a really unreallistic game mechanic...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

You know? You're right! Losing hit points is about scratches and papercuts. That's what Greataxes do. Anyway... You've all taked about healing and mostly melee combat. But what about spells? A meteor Swarm that actually hurls balls of fire right in your face (anyone read order of the Stick...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

This whole brain exercise to explain how this mechanic works goes against the whole "more intuitive" feel the want to give the game now. "The cleric just critical hit the dragon for 18 damage! that's inspiring, I suddenly feel healed"..."Wow, the Lawful Good Epic Fighter just critical hit the...

How does striking an opponent heal your allies?

I mean, I've seen this mechanic a lot lately. They say it started with the Crusader but I haven't read the whole ToB. I know that you probably need to balance things with this "roles" stuff, so a Cleric doesn't lose actions to heal his buddies, but... How does a hit to my enemy heal my friends...

D&D 4E Rich Baker on his 4e Warlord

I think Ability Scores will be higher in average. Probably with 30+ in point-buy system, or rolling 5d6 and discarding the 2 lowest dice. This could explain Karhun's INSANE stats. This way, if all classes have skills related to several different abillity scores, they will have enough points to...

One last name poll: Warlord vs Marshal

I voted Marshal. It feels more like and archetype and less as a prestige class. I agree that it feels NPC somehow, but at least it doesn't sound like a BBEG Besides... If I ever see a Multiclass Warforged Warlord/Warlock my head will explode out of being disgusted to the extreme (Imagine if he...

David Noonan mentions Eye of Vecna, Axe of Dwarvish Lords, and Purple Worms

The Head of Vecna! Yeah!!! The best "cursed" item EVER!

    A mystery race ?

What I want and hope is that the "Mystery race" is Kobolds! They are really fun and interesting, with their inferiority complex and everything the would make a fine replacement for their not so funny gnomes. I totally agree.

    A mystery race ?

I have read about Goliaths in Races of Stone. But I don't understand what's the big deal with them. Could someone explain what's so good about them?

    Find the Anime Challenge

Well... it does look consistent with his other work... I guess it just looked anime-ish.

    Find the Anime Challenge

This is the clearest anime-style example. It doesn't have huge eyes, but in most anime-styles, mature men are drawn with small, serious eyes, like this one's. This, and the horrible tieflings from page 9 are the most anime-ish of all the images posted.

Weapons as AC: It's about time...

I mostly agree. But this mostly happens when fighting an un-shielded character. With these ideas, I think I come to a valid option: -When a guy has a shield and he loses his sword, he would still be defending almost as effectively. -And when you have a Shield, you almost won't parry with your...
