    D&D 5E (2014) I made a Revised Fighter to fix the martial/caster gap - Feedback?

The sorcerer was dropping fireballs and other damaging spells left and right. The fighter's damage exceeded EVERYONE else's by a wide margin., over the course of multiple fights. Is it absolutely dispositive? No, but it certainly showed a lot. There were different issues exposed by the play...

Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse Review

One of my absolute favorite boxed sets, the 2e City of Greyhawk one - had something like 20 double-sided adventures. For various levels and with many various locations, and printed individually so you don't have to flip to it. I still pull these out occasionally.

Planescape: Adventures in the Multiverse Review

I tend to not run the adventures "as is" but I crib and modify material from them all the time. For example, I thought Dragon Heist was not great, but the lairs were REALLY GOOD. I've gotten quite a bit of use. And I have run some of them. Ran Descent into Avernus twice. Needed a bit of modding...

Also, this looks more like the parties reached an agreement (The Trustee and WoTCs attorneys) and will be filing an agreed order as such. Will be interesting to see how they divey this up.

More than that, WoTC is by far the biggest creditor in the case. If the trustee finds assets, he will then go after those assets, liquidate them, and distribute the proceeds. Rather than pay their own attorneys, WoTC just has to sit back and collect (though, of course, the amount collected...

TSR The Full & Glorious History of NuTSR

This is what I find baffling. By filing the business 7 JLN has allowed a 3rd party (the 7 trustee) take a deep dive into his business operations (all of them) to a degree MUCH more involved than most state court litigation would allow. And more, he's allowed WoTC which, sure could have had...

And now you have The ch. 7 Trustee and WoTC pushing each other out of the way for who gets to shoot the bird and check what's in it.

@Deset Gled said, WoTC is the big one. The trustee makes money by 1) liquidating assets and getting a percentage and 2) hiring out his own firm (which he has done) to liquidate those assets. The more assets he finds (and if he finds co-mingling, asset transfers etc he might be able to access...

True, but here's the thing - the trustee would absolutely not be bothering unless he really thought there was some money behind all of it. If the trustee just thought there was serious bankruptcy fraud going on - he'd make a referral to the US Trustee's office who would investigate and...

This is fascinating. Normally, a motion to confirm termination of stay is a 100% slam dunk (like here, there is no stay against a co-debtor/related party in a ch. 7). But here, the Ch. 7 trustee (not JLN) filed a response asking for time. The response is basically, there's A LOT of complicated...

D&D General Wizard vs Fighter - the math

I think this is insightful - and applies to more than the cleric. Fighter's too - generally aren't "flashy" other than the occasional Nat 20 ridiculous damage takedown. Wizards (and other arcane casters too), though ARE flashy - They have spells that when they work, can immediately turn the...

D&D General Wizard vs Fighter - the math

Toll the dead is strictly better than sacred flame in most situations (necrotic resistance/immunity being the obvious one). Less used save (wis vs. dex) and the damage difference really adds up. But more than that. DPR isn't really the bread and butter of most casters. Wizards big effects are...

D&D General Wizard vs Fighter - the math

My gut reaction would be - because they think a playing a fighter sounds cool. And also because "conventional wisdom" (though I think it's hogwash) is that playing a fighter is the "easier" option. But if they start with a fighter - and then keep playing a fighter, then clearly they're...

D&D General Wizard vs Fighter - the math

But that's more what fits into an adventure vs. what people are actually playing. I'd certainly agree that shorter adventuring days favor casters (not so much because of combat, but because it means they don't have to save resources FOR combat). And also that the newer adventures have FAR less...

D&D General Wizard vs Fighter - the math

Oh, there are ALWAYS casters - bards, sorcerers, clerics, a few warlocks, now artificers. I have noticed the younger crowd (like my son's group) like warlocks A LOT more than the older crowd. But despite the prevalent # of casters - I still see plenty of fighters. And I see more fighters than...

D&D General Wizard vs Fighter - the math

Where are you getting that from? I've recently been doing quite a bit of adventurer's league. Different cities even. I've noticed there is never a lack of people bringing fighters to the table - often 2 in a party of 4-6. Wizards, while not exactly rare, are not that common either with 0-1...

Court ordered damages and penalties are generally subject to discharge. There are just some specific circumstances when they fall with the Bankruptcy discharge exceptions when they are not. It's not the fact that it was a court order, it's the fact that it was ruled as willful and malicious...

D&D 5E (2014) The core issue of the martial/caster gap is just the fundamental design of d20 fantasy casters.

For better or worse, getting advantage is pretty easy in 5e. Another instance of granting it is highly unlikely to be OP. Example: a path of the wolf barbarian, while raging, grants advantage to allies melee attacks against all enemies within 5' of him (the barbarian). I suspect the barbarians...

I prefer not to really think about such adversarial DMs because no amount of system fixing will really be enough. The key with adversarial DMs, IMO, is simply to avoid adversarial DMs.
