Ha Ha, oh wow. You're kidding right? Change just for changes sake? Most people already play with point buy, those who don't usually roll again and again until they have decent scores. It's not some random change, but another case of bringing corerules in line with how people actually play the game!

And concerning elves, i believe Rich Baker said something about bringing the standard of the Forgotten Realms (where elves are actually as tall as men) to the core rules. Which is fine by me, as i've never seen a short elf in any game i've ever played in.

I'm going with the "all core races are medium size" too. Without Gnomes you'd have to put small weapons and stuff in the book just to equip the halflings. Would be kinda strange. So now the Halflings may be on the lower end of the medium size, which would mean that they can wield normal weapons...

I'm really interested in the new Realms and that comes from a longtime FR player and dm. I particuliarly like that they advance the timeiine, which is much better imho than "reimagining" the setting. That way, all the history of the "classic Realms" is retained and can be used in future...

I'm getting 4e as soon as possible. In fact, my whole group (all longtime D&D players) is pretty stoked about the new rules and flavor changes. We're currently finishing our old campaign and even inserted some 4eish house rules. :)
