Whats a reasonable AC at 10th level?

Its not that hard to get a superb AC... Level 6 cleric: Full Plate +1 (either bought or using Magic Vestment): +9 Armor Light Shield +1: +2 Shield 12 Dex: +1 dex Shield of Faith: +3 Deflection Barkskin (potion or druid friend): +2 natural That's AC 27 right there, for a character that...

Whats a reasonable AC at 10th level?

    A guideline I once saw is something like this: 5 + Level = Poor 10 + Level = Mediocre 15 + Level = Fair 20 + Level = Good 25 + Level = Superb

    Core Rogue Build

PHB Only Rogue with 32 Buy: There are two broad types of rogue, and they are not mutually exclusive. 1) Trap Monkey These are skilled builds. The only two skills that are mandatory are maxed out Search and Disable Device with the trapfinding ability. Every party needs one member with one...

    D&D 3.x Monk 3.5

Getting Big is really important. Potions of Enlarge Person, a friendly wizard, a dip into cleric levels with the Strength domain, whatever it takes -- you need to get large size for hte Reach and grapple/trip bonuses.

    how to search better...

You can get around the issue with wands, spells, and summoned monkeys, but those are all resource intense. For stop-gap measures, I would suggest having the sorcerer take Summon Monster I for aforementioned reasons. If it weren't for the paladin, you could use Skeletons or Zombies to open...

    "g.p. weight"

I play 1E regularly, and it is 10 GP = 1 pound (and pounds are abbreviated with a "#" sign, too!). For specific 1E questions you might have better luck at www.dragonsfoot.org. There are forums there that specialize in OOP questions.

Paladin's mount can't wear armor? What am I missing?

Worst case, just give it leather barding, masterwork studded leather, or mithril chain barding. Or mithril breastplate barding, and it accepts a small penalty on attack rolls.

Knowledge (architecture & engineering)--who actually has it as a class skill?

Cloistered Clerics can make good use of it. Rogue 1/Cloistered Cleric X is a strong build that gets good mileage out of the skill synergies. Search and Disable Device kept max by cross-class ranks, of course.

    core problem: duelist

On the WOTC Char-Op boards, Duelists are widely regarded as fairly useless as far as PrCs go. I'd suggest checking out the Swashbuckler Class from Complete Warrior. It used to be only viable for a 3 level dip, but there's a feat in Complete Scoundrel that lets you stack rogue and swashbuckler...

    How to speak when wildshaped?

See if your DM will let you get a hat of speak with animals to loan to a friend.

Advice on building a Horse Archer

Most NPC hordesmen will be level 1 warriors, so they'll only have one feat if demihumans. It should either be mounted combat (to prepare them for mounted archery at level 3) or Weapon Focus (to help them actually hit).

How can I fix my Will save?

Force of Personality lets you use CHA instead of WIS for Will saves, but with 12 WIS that might not help so much. Why the devotion to the fighter class? Its not that great, honestly, even with all the PHBII feats out there. A four-level dip into a 3/4 BAB class only costs -1 BAB and the...

How can I fix my Will save?

Pick up a few levels in a class with a strong Will save. Occult Slayer jumps to mind immediately. Ruathor and Human Paragon could work too. If your CHA is decent, a 4 level cleric dip could be nice to boost saves, pick up spells, and abuse divine feats at the cost of 1 point of BAB.

    Favored Soul/Battle Sorcerer

It sounds like you want a "blaster" that has a divine flair and a themed set of spells. This screams out "Arcane Disciple" to me. Basically, the feat lets you add a cleric domain to your arcane spellcasting list. So you can select the "Good" domain and throw down Holy Smites and Protection...

Rules for Creating Character higher than 1st Level

For item creation, just charge "living expenses." The cost of a room's board and food are listed in the SRD. Also remember to charge for any hirelings that might be part of the retinue. The costs add up fairly quickly, at least for non-magical craft-skill usage.

    Horses at high level?

The Beastmaster PrC might be what you're looking for, too. A one level dip gets you an animal companion, and you can use the Natural Bond feat (you're a fighter with lots of feats, right?) to make it even better.

    Horses at high level?

The Wild Cohort and Leadership feats can be used to gain a mount that advances in power as the character does.

Mechanical justifcation for fighting with one hand?

The advantage to one weapon over TWF is that you don't need to full attack to maximize your style. Your top maximized damage output will be lower, but your standard action output will be higher. Scout Skirmish damage could be highly useful for a mobile Spring-Attacking one-handed fighter...

    Favored Soul/Battle Sorcerer

As with most dual-casting "Mystic Theurge" type combos... ITS A TRAP! What would you prefer? Level IV spells... or Lots of Level I spells? Divine Power... or Divine Favor? Empowered Scorching Ray... or Magic Missile? I'd suggest sticking with one or the other, using wands, use magic...

What's wrong with Fighters as archers?

The reason fighters aren't the best archers is because (A) they don't have much bonus damage on each shot, and archers can usually full-attack with rapid shot for a volley of missiles and (B) it only takes 3 essential feats to be a competent archer (PBS-->Precise Shot-->Rapid Shot), making it...
