There are multiple ways to address that if someone wanted to. First, sticking to mostly Extras as enemies would mean they go down in a fight easily, so you would see people being dropped quite quickly in many fights. Second, tweak the stats for guns and armour. Guns aren’t super high damage...

Personally, my favourite game is genre flexible and has lots of optional rules which can easily nudge the game to be a bit more gritty, a bit more heroic, a bit more horrific and so on.

That’s for the creation of vehicles. Piloting vehicles is much more straightforward and covered in the core rule books.

Hence the ‘unscientific’ qualifier. But they are probably the best stats we have available.

I did a little unscientific analysis on BoardGameGeek, looking at just the top 5 rated games and comparing the number of recorded plays versus the number of people who own or previously owned them. The ration goes from roughly 2 to just over 6 which does not suggest a huge number of replays...

That flyer for the shows has a character (top, right) who looks to be a firbolg in the style shown in the DH core book. Are there any 5e races which look like that? I’m not aware of any but don’t get into 3PP ancestries. And maybe a simian, bottom left? Again, I’m not aware of a 5e race like...

I suspect the viewing number for Age of Umbra will be a factor. If they are ‘good’ (whatever that means, but they probably have a way of analysing and comparing) then maybe they will make the leap. The sales numbers for the core set are probably a factor, too, and they seem to be ‘gang busters’...

I love those kind of irrational missteps. WFRP is, of course, much darker than D&D. The best one I have come across is someone whose parents wouldn’t allow D&D but Call of Cthulhu was fine…
