Class Books: How would you do them?

    1) Keep the format the same for all the books. I can't find anything in the WotC classbooks because the different authors put thier content in different orders. 2) Plan out what you want for each book and make sure one book doesn't step on another book's turf. Can someone give me a reason why...

"Alternative lifestyles" in your campaign world

Already a part of the FRCS, pg 143 on an entry concerning a town on the Dragon Coast (population 9,700): [the boldface emphasis below is mine] "Eversult is the least Dragon Cost-ish city on the Dragon Cost. Its present ruler, a former adventure named Yanseldarar (NG female human fighter 11/sorc...

    [Dragon] Differences Now and Then?

How would you feel about both? That is to say, an article about a tavern in Faerun with notes on how to integrate it into a core rules campaign?

Gee Brain, I think they're finally catching on...

It isn't D&D much less 3e, but check out Talsorian (sp?) Game's Listen Up, You Primitive Screwheads!. Excellent for the cyberpunk genre and a good book in general.

    [Dragon] Differences Now and Then?

I also believe there was a golden period in the 60-110 range. That being said, the magazine has effectively split. During the golden period you'd get modules and very wide variety of articles. Now we have Dungeon and the Star Wars magazine (I forget what that one's called). So you're not...

    Wizard needing advice

SamuraiY, SD has some good advice, but also consider that your DM may simply not want you to have that item. Check with him and make sure that this is a quest you have a reasonable chance of success. There's no point in banging your head against a wall for no reason. (of course, your DM may...

Campaigns you *don't* want to play in

I'm having a hard time thinking of a setting I wouldn't at least want to try. (I'm such a nerd) I guess maybe Diomin. But even then, my complaint with the book was how it was written. Maybe if I gamed under the guy who wrote it I might like it more.

Building a character concept with core classes X The PrCs dogma

Yes, but the flip side is that it lets the players have more options about the direction they want to take their character. More player decisions makes for a better game. My two cents (which, when combined with my two cents above, makes four cents)

Building a character concept with core classes X The PrCs dogma

Probably because the PrC has more than a few requirements which contributes to a sense of "growth" for the character. Scenario A) Joe the fighter wants to rage with the wild men. He takes a level of Barbarian. The player tells the DM it's because his character spent a few weeks in the...

What type of food do you eat while gaming?

Beef jerky is the current favorite. Though it's kind of expensive so I'm thinking about making my own.

[OT, Valentine's Day] What are you doing for your sweety?

Thanks, thatdarncat! No problem. I'll put you in the "enforcer" pew of the chapel and give you a truncheon and a helmet with a black visor that will inspire fear and terror into the guests and loved ones. -BG PS Fish, chicken, or vegetarian option for the dinner?

[OT, Valentine's Day] What are you doing for your sweety?

Taking her to dinner, catching a show at the Kennedy Center, and proposing. You know, the usual.

    WotC conspiracy theory

Don't you fools see the truth when it stares you in the face? It's the Gnomes, man! It's the Gnomes! They're controling WotC through mind-zorching beams they carry in those big red hats of theirs. It's all part of a grand conspiracy, that is based in -- but not limited to -- Dayton, Ohio...

    [ot] I'm invisible!

http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_747591.html?menu=news.latestheadlines ... man, you think it would be easier to duplicate a crummy 2nd level spell. Also, these guys are slackers. I've been able to do do a modified version of that for a long time now. With a bottle of tequila as a...

    Wine (products and research request)

Sagan, I found a winery in your area: http://www.roundthebend.com/hudson/hudswine.html Maybe you could drop by there and look around? In Virginia we have lots of vinyards. I noticed they tended to attract bees and other such insects that like sugary grapes.

    The necessity of figurative figurines

I bought Firey Dragon's third counter set (for Modern) and I haven't looked back. When it becomes my turn to DM fantasy I'll get the fantasy series. But before that I did just fine with dice, paperclips, and other such things.

[Subraces] Too much of a good thing?

While it is up to the individual GM, I think some settings (FRCS) have too many sub-races. It seems like a large family can't go on vacation for a week without developing into a new subrace ... and don't get me started on the Underdark (it seems like the best thing you can do for your species...
