    I lost a 3rd level character...and I need another one!

Hmmmmm. Well, first things first. What setting are you playing in? :: Nightfall glares at Biggus :: Sorry. Should have guessed. How about an Aasimar? That would leave lots of possible character hooks for the SL. And try to pick up a halberd. I played a fighter with a halberd in a...

Need help with Star Trek D&D character

Well, Tallarn, you're forgetting that half-vulcans (orcish ancestry or no) are still subject to Pon'Far. Clearly, failure to mention this was an honest mistake on the part of Bugaboo. You'll find that during this time the concentration check has to be made and I'm pretty sure there's a...

Direct Port from D&D: Adept as a modern PrC

I'm kicking the idea around of introducing the Adept as a possible PrC. It might fit one of the character's background a little better. For reference the Adept has the following abilities at 10th level: Obviously, I'd have to switch the D&D spells with their modern equivalents. I'm still...

Your palm says... You sweat a lot.

I've seen Wiccans do the wax in water thing. There is also tea leaves. The ancient Greeks used to tell the future by setting free a flock of birds. Hope that helps!

Good books for use in creating flying ships

I believe Goodman Games has a product about this topic.

I'm thinking of playing a rogue

YES! This skill is VITAL! Don't neglect your Intelligence stat. Rogues are all about skill points and you'll burn through them surprisingly fast. Use Magic Device is good at higher levels. You typically need to roll a 20 or higher, so it won't be doing you much good until 8th level.

AAAH! Oh. It's just a dream.

You could use the "Far Realms" templates found in (I believe) Tome & Blood and the Epic Level Handbook.

    That rat had 400 GP!

A Wilderness Lore or Animal Handling check (DC 10) reveals that the rat is a very rare breed and the pelt may be worth something to a tanner.

    Bad Review vs. Good Reviews

Great review! "Divine Fist (divine feat) works exactly like Divine Might (in WotC's Defenders of the Faith, but UF doesn't mention where to find it) but only for unarmed attacks. The book even admits this fact with a special note at the end of this feat listing. So why not just take Divine...

    Who's the coolest iconic character?

Troy Bellarosa. Who could be cooler than the iconic Charismatic Hero?

    Bad Review vs. Good Reviews

I try to bear the reviewer in mind when reading a review. d20 Magazine Rack tends to rate products a little high. Simon tends to like crunchy bits and mechanics. There isn't anything wrong with either reviewer per se, but it's something I try to keep in mind when reading the review so I know...

Party Levels, CR, and Those Wacky Stats!

To answer the question: I'd treat the characters as +1 ECL.

Party Levels, CR, and Those Wacky Stats!

+2 to all abilities might be easier. Or simply +1 to all saves and +2 hit points/CR

Useless dice. Do you use them in your campaigns?

Some people rule that all untrained skill checks use the d12. Plus barbarians use them for hit points and some weapons need it. But in general I agree.

How fast to level up in game time?

It depends entirely on how often the group meets. My gaming group meets about once a month so I gave them second level "free" after the first adventure. I wouldn't have done that if we met every week.

    Vile damage & sundering attacks

My Book of Vile Darkness has been on loan. Apologies if I have stuff wrong. If I make a sundering attack with a vile weapon, can the damaged weapon now only be repaired on consecrated or hallowed ground?

Useless dice. Do you use them in your campaigns?

I played in a game this weekend. The d100 was the most useful die we had. The DM has an infant and the d100 acted as a great rattle for the kid.

What's the best way to run a module?

Yep. To do a good job, you'll have to spend a lot of time on it. It's one of the reasons I think modules should actually be a little boring. The idea -- in my arrogant opinion -- is to make the DMs life easier by throwing him a canned adventure. The DM runs the generic, purchased adventure...
